The futaba 4YF would be good but it comes with servos that you don’t need

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXJSH4**&P=0

not to mention that you would need to find a micro receiver

wait i just found this

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXLGF5**&P=0

It comes with the servos that will work and a micro receiver

157 buxs for all that. i don't need teh other servo's right

RE: noob needs help

Well if you buy the hitec radio you don’t need the other servos in the first post but there still will be more (motor, prop, charger, and exedra). If you really want to get into this hobby you normally buy a 6 channel radio but looking that you’re on a budget this will be the cheapest way

Oh and forget the my first post I read your post wrong

Trev.... if your are a beginner, i would suggest you buy a Ready-To-Fly (RTF) plane. Parkzone makes a similar plane called the SLO-V and it comes with everything you need.

Oh... and it's 90 percent assembled for you.
Hope this helps

If your set on the Slow Stick do yourself a favor and get the 400 rather than the 300. They are the same price but the 400 is a lot stronger motor.

I would go with a 15A ESC. it will give you a better chance of not burning out, weighs about the same and will fit in a wider variety of planes in the future.

Don't know why you don't like this radio system. It comes with 2 servos which would eliminate the extra cost of buying more. It also comes with an "ultra-micro rx" and the system cost is quite low.

The Slo V will cost less and comes ready to fly but the electronics are not suitable for any plane you may want in the future.
At least with the route you where headed at first you would have quality radio gear that can be transferred into a future model which will save you money down the road.
The GWS Slow Stick and the Parkzone Slo V are both pretty flimsy and neither one will last long enough to worry about upgrading the motor.

yea i know there flimsey but idk if i wanna fly or hover (plane or heli)

RE: noob needs help

ITs not designed to go fast, yes you probably could, but you probably won't get it to go much faster.

go for something more manuverable trev, like a 3d or Imac style

There is a reason they call it a "Slo" v. It's simply not strong enough to bear the loads that would be imposed during higher speed manuevers.

Revotrx3 02-22-2008 09:50 PM

RE: noob needs help

well i don't wanna do manuver's just fly, like i said idk what i want o do fly or hover. iam thinking about the slo-v because its cheap and rtr. all i want to know is if i can upgrade the motor to a bl (not the biggest bl) just more that it has.

You need ailerons to hover.

brushlessboy16 02-22-2008 09:52 PM

RE: noob needs help

ya u need something with full control and fairly high deflections to do hovering and 3d

Go for it.
As far as upgrading the motor, maybe, maybe not. A bigger motor may draw too many amps for the ESC and burn it out.
Ailrons are control sufaces on the wings that control roll. Without ailerons if you try to hover the airplane will spin out of control. The ailerons are needed to counteract the torque of the motor.
Neither of the planes we have discussed have ailerons.
The GWS slow stick has rudder and elevator and the Slo V has a V tail that only gives rudder like control.

yea this won't be for a while. i just spent 136 on a evader ext. are the electronices(esc and motor) upgradable or is the esc insize the plane and can't be accesed

Missileman 02-22-2008 10:32 PM

RE: noob needs help

You can upgrade the radio equipment and motor but I am telling you it is not worth the trouble.
We are talking about an aluminum stick with thin foam wings.
If you want something that flys faster buy the Parkzone scout or commander. You are still getting a cheap 2 channel airplane that you can have a little fun with. If you are lucky it may last a few months.

Better, a friend of mine learned on that one. That plane does give you more control.
It is not upgradable but it doesn't need to be.
