Does cold affect electronics?

Hello all,

I'm planning on storing my planes in my shed seeing that my closet is all filled up;)

It gets pretty cold down here in the winter time.

Will the cold affect the electronics?

Thanks:D

yes, it does mess with elctronics, mainly gyros, when going from one temp and then big temp jump it can effect the way it works, in the blades it messes with me, but thats all. It says in the book on the blades to let electronics adjust to a big temp increase/decrease.

I think the question should read "does cold irreversibly affect the electronics"...

Cold has some short term effects on electronics but all you need to do is to let everthing come slowly back up to normal temperatures.

Battery packs as indicated should be stored indoors.

Condensation is the biggest problem, when you bring something indoors from the cold.

the answer is yes if flying , I dont really think so in the long run as far as storage , esp Batterys can temp lose 30% of their power in extreme cold . My Li ON batterys have a warning label on them about the cold

yes, I will be keeping the batteries indoors

But will it affect the servos, reciever, etc.?

And also will storing it in the cold affect engine quality and life?

RE: Does cold affect electronics?

fly or die, I keep my planes in my garage and i dont notice any difference, I do notice the difference in cold and warm temp on my Electric planes because the batteries dont work good under too cold or too hot temps but when its nice out they kind of go back to normal.
