Concerns about Spectrum radios
I talked to the local club today about the trainer I am getting, (Alpha 40 DSM) and he mentioned something about having to reset the transmitter to receiver every time you make a change. He was concerned about making a change in flight and losing the airplane. My guess is he meant making a trim adjustment or something, I don't know. Please let me know what you think cause I plan on ordering the plane soon. I am also gonna ask the guy at the local LHS about it too. If there is an issue, I could get the chaper version with a regular radio. Thanks

I am not an expert but i have 2 spektrum radios and mine are awsome, i have the dx6 and dx7 and have not had anything like that happen. I think it will be just fine. Bunches of people at my field have spektrum radios and they all love them. NICE NAME by the way:D[8D];):)

Many, many, many pilots at clubs around the United States use the Spektrum radios without issue. They are rock solid and quality products. Sure, if your Rx battery goes low and the thing resets you're probably screwed, but that's your fault for not providing enough current to the electronic equipment. I keep my Rx pack capacity at 200mAh per servo (7 servos = 1400mAh battery at the least).

Thanks G'day Brett, You will need to rebind, after you make THROTTLE adjustments, or any major trim changes, but normal trim settings are fine, the rebind is only to make sure your failsafe is set correctly. |

The Spektrum radio just does not do this by itself. Whoever told you that or suggested that is just plain wrong.
As Allan said, if you make a major change to something, well, it's just a good idea to re-bind the RX-TX pair using the binding process outlined in the manual. But, you have to do this on purpose. There is nothing you will do while flying that requires re-binding while in flight. Absolutely nothing. Besides, to do that, the receiver needs the binding plug to be plugged into the receiver, which of course you cannot do while flying. And, you can't use the thing (fly with it) with the binding plug plugged in on the RX. CGr. Hi Allan.. how goes it? Dick. |

Again a example of bad information on new equipment being given to a new flier. This man, I bet doesn't even own 2.4. He heard something about binding without understanding the system. Starting in May all the Alpha trainers come with 2.4. Learn the system and teach the rest at the field. You'll be the smart one. Dennis
