RE: Battery Questions
Another tech. question: I am currently using a Guanli NiMH AAA 650 mAh 9.6 Volt Battery to power my Guanli A-10 Thunderbolt jet airplane. I found another battery rated at: 9.6 volts 1000 mAh with a discharge rate of 3amps. The battery weight is only 1/2 oz more than the battery that came with the plane. My question is will that additional 350 mAh give me a longer flight time? I realize I could go to LiPo's and a different charger and solve my problem. I just don't want to go the extra expense at this time.

Yes increasing the mAh rating of the batteries SAFELY increases the flight time. In your case you are looking at a 1/3 increase in time over what you have now.
You didn't mention the weight of the plane, but if 1/2oz is less than 1/20th the weight of the plane, you will not notice much difference because of the weight. LiPo is the way to go though as you get more power at a lesser weight than what you have now. |

Thank you very much for your input. That's about what I figured as to additional flight time. I here it from everyone about how much better LiPo batteries are as compared to NiMH. Being somewhat new to electrics, I sorta put the cart be for the horse as to what to get started with. I guess there was also a fear factor involved with all the stories out there about how dangerous LiPo batteries can be. As I gain the knowlege, I am pretty sure I will move up to the LiPo batteries.
