the Magister is fixed!!!

I had mentioned in another thread that I planted the plane from about 150ft. when I got interferance or something after doing the repairs to the fuslage and replacing the aileron servo that the wires got ripped out of and some control wires.
I received my new motor and gearbox today from tower, and got the plane prepped for flight. hurry up saturday!!!!!!!!:D:D

Sweet! Glad to hear that. Everytime you fix a plane it becomes more like a brother....

It should be a rule on here, ya gotta post before and after pictures with your post! :)

I wish I had taken some pictures. the plane took the brunt of the hit on its nose and right wing tip. the plastic(or nylon) screws that I assume or supposed to break in a crash didn''t and the balsa wing support was ripped out of the fuselage. the gear box was torn from the firewall bending the prop shaft and breaking the prop. when the gearbox was forced aft the tabs were ripped out of the motor. the rightside main gear got folded into the fuse. and when the wing was knocked off the wires for the aileron servo got ripped out of the servo. the nose gear was forced to turn 90 degrees only the control cable only let it turn 45 degrees so the cable lost and broke. if it wasn''t for the way the foam on the nose of the plane is you would have no idea the plane was crashed now!!! instead of cutting another piece of balsa for the wing support, I cut a piece of aluminum with a plasma cutter using the balsa as a template. it added a little weight even after opening it up some, but I don't think that will be breaking anytime soon!!!

the re-maiden flight went well!!! to bad it was so windy, would've liked to fly with the Electristar. got three flights in and two good landings. still need more practice with the rudder (crosswind landing got a wingtip down) no damage done though. all in all I had a good fly day (if you don't count the aunt Jamima with the Super Cub) even with all the gnarly wind.:D

Ah! the Super Cub. Gotta love that little plane. Not too good with wind though.

I've seen videos on the internet, people outfit them with brushless, cameras, ailerons, flaps..... anything you can imagine. I saw one that hauled bootie off the runway to 100ft in the blink of an eye.... Dunno what he was using for power.

I had the same thing happin..sort of..

I was showing my father how to fly his beautiful Magister. He was making a right turn and the plane was facing him. As I started to grab the "box" from him, feeling he was confused (because of opposite control thingy and some wind) the plane started its ...five pounds of weight desent from about no more than 15 feet. As I tried to throttle and pull it of trouble, BAM! The motor and its supports, the prop, the front part of the balsa support for the wing, a survo horn for the right side and the screw support for the landing gear was damaged. I think my leveling the plane three feet from the ground saved it from the cart wheel it wanted to do...

The plane has been rebuilt and painted a medium blue with canary yellow control surfaces...island vaction colors[)]
He is shell shocked and gazes at his nice paint job until he cooks up his nerves to fly again.
