Hi, I'm learning on a BTE FlyinKing, and was wondering how to do nice smooth rolls.

A little more info would help.
2 channels, 3? Electric or glow?

You need ailerons to do a "smooth" roll. If you have them, start your roll, feed in a bit of down elevator as the plane starts into inverted flight, then ease it off as it starts to come out of inverted.

If you're going to try and slow the roll down you'll also probably need to coordinate some rudder into it too.

With rudder only, the best you can do is a sloppy barrel roll. Start a little dive, then pull up and throw the rudder over at the same time.

The Flyin king is a high wing plane. I am using a JR XP652 radio, and the plane is built with flaps and ailerons, plus the usual rudder and elevator. I am powering it with an OS 60FP. The plane has an 82" wing span and is about 5 feet long

P.S. My rolls now look like a wild corkscrew because on high rates I am just giving full right aileron and full down elevator.

How does it fly upside down???

you need to co-ordinate the aileron and elevator.

i have a plane that corkscrewes unless you get the aileron elevator just right. it helped me a lot to flyit round upside down for a while so i got used to how much elevator it required durring the roll

It takes a fair bit of elevator to fly inverted, but if I remember from last fall I think I can still loop from inverted. I have only flown inverted for very short spurts because I have trouble keeping it on it's back.

Sounds like you "know" how. What you need now is practice.... practice.... practice.... ;)

One other thought. It's a little more difficult to get a "smooth" roll out of a high wing plane due to the 'pendulum' affect of the fuse hanging below the wing.

Since it is harder to do rolls with a high wing plane, should I keep trying or just wait on the rolls till I have my Sig SE finished?

Only apply the elevator when its inverter and even then its just a tap
