Instructions/Hinge Scan- Questions
1 Attachment(s)
I am assuming that the 75-80mm back from the leading edge is the CG. Also, those are the hinges that were included. they seem to be doing the job. They are all rock solid. I'm sure the copious amounts of CA I used didn't hurt.
Anyway, I think I've finally found my career path. WRITING INSTRUCTIONS~! |
RE: Instructions/Hinge Scan- Questions
Sounds about right to me.

RE: Instructions/Hinge Scan- Questions
Nice scan, but I would watch out with the "copious amounts of CA" I've been told by more than 1 person to use only a drop or two on the hinges since it wicks in on the hinges. Too much is almost as bad as not enought.

RE: Instructions/Hinge Scan- Questions
Yeah, is seems that too much might actually make them brittle, but I plan on applying packing tape to the undersides of the control surfaces for security.

RE: Instructions/Hinge Scan- Questions
The amount of CA used doesn't make them brittle. The problem with using too much CA is that the hinge can only wick so much of it, the rest is left to pool and harden in the hinge gap. This will cause the hinge to fail simply because when you delfect the surface, the hinge is being "stretched" over the dried pool of CA and will eventually break. Only use 3-4 drops per side and you will have solid hinges that will last.
