Hooking up Dual Elevator
 

Okay, so I need some advice on how to hook up dual elelvator. The instructions show some vague way in which you connect a second push rod about half way on the first. Are there any other ways?

P.S. I only have a 4 channel tx.

Dual servos but I think the wishbone is the easiest.

I didn't trust the collars, so I solder it. That's how it is on the GPcap232 .40 and some other arfs.
If you don't have a torch you can wrap threads over the two rods and CA it. Still use the 2 collars thou.

On my Ace 4 -40. A dowl is used . Two rods to form a Y on the tail end and one rod on the servo side.
Threads wrap around the dowl and rods to secure it. It dose the samething.
Screw the cleves after you sholve the rods through the fuselage and adjust it accordingly.

To convert it back to a single rod. Just use Music wire to joint the elevators....a wide U shape.

But the dual rod system is better becuase you can adjust on both of the elevators
Sometimes when jointing the elevators...the holes I drill into the elevators to insert the U shape music wire arn't exactly striaght. (single rod)

Thanks. I came up with something. Let me know what you think. It's probably very dumb, but here it goes. I centered the elevators and pulled fuel tubing over both of the push rods, thus bringing them together. It is tight. I then added epoxy to each side of the fuel tubing.

If both of the elevators are not perfectly aligned, won't they act as ailerons? How precise do they need to be?

Also, is it possible for this plane to be tail heavy with a tower .46 on it? The CG is 3 inches from the leading edge, and it keeps going tail. Are there any tricks for getting the CG right on a low wing? Picture attached. Thanks

I don't think your epoxy is going to hold on the fuel tubing. Wrap them together with wire and then solder them. Or if you hate to solder, use JB weld.

You could also add a second elevator servo but it looks a bit tight.

Balance the plane upsidedown, it will be more accurate. Every plane balances different due to the weight of the wood.

No, the epoxy won't hold. Replace the fuel tubing with 2 wheel collars. You can solder if you want but I have never had one come lose yet with just the collars.
As far as not being even? The clevis at the control surface should be adjustable. get them as close as you can visually and they will be fine.
