Note to all people flying alpha, the wings are very weak. In our club we tell all new guys and most of the time do it for them, EPOXY THE WINGS TOGETHER, but thats not where im going. The alphas will not take and high G loading compared to other H9 trainer or any other trainer. In the last 2 weeks the left wing pulled from the spar right outside were the metal wing tube stops. Everything else in this combo is great, but thats my only gripe. The last one that went in did not even hardly have a spec of glue on the sheer webs and ribs.

Thanks skymac for the info. I just purchased my first rc plane The Alpha you're talking about, and flew it today with an experienced rc friend. The info you gave is scary because he was doing loops, hammerheads etc.. We didn't have any problems, but I did use 2 inch wide clear packing tape around the whole wing joint (maybe this prevented a mishap) I used the 2 inch wide tape because there was a review of the Alpha recently in a magazine, and the author wasn't happy with that little tape they give you, so he recommended the 2 inch stuff. I left the original narrow tape on and covered over with the wide stuff...........Do you think I should still take off the tape and epoxy the wings?? or do you think I'll be allright??

My tape only lasted a couple weeks and it started tearing so I took it off and epoxied it. Nice and strong now.

What he was doing was not doing any harm, but every trainer should be able to take full throattle loops, etc more than 1 time. Now I heard the new ones dont even come with the alumium tube and just a regular spar, always use exopy to join the wings, whats an extra hour for saftey. But the problem was the wing was seperating about 6 or 7 inchs from the center section.

When you epoxy the wing, are you only putting epoxy along the aluminum tube and the pin; or along the entire mating surfaces of the wing joint???...Let me know, Thanks

you may want to sand alittle to make the surfuse rough so epoxy sticks better... also take a small drill bit and go from front to back and make some holes on both sides so the epoxy can get on both side of wood, it will make like a liquide staple...thats what i did......spooner
