Interface cable for Flight Sim

Hey guys. I finally got FMS to work on Vista. Can anyone recommend a cheap interface cable? I found one here:

http://www.helihobby.com/html/fms_flight_sim.html

Any other suggestions?

p.s. do you need to have your transmitter on with these?

I got mine from ebay, something like $9.95, shipping included (?). It works great. Radio does have to be on. It included cables for all brands/types of trainer cords. It's from Hong Kong, and includes FMS (not that you need it now). Let me see if I can find a link...

So is FMS a decant sim? For 25 bucks with a Tx and sim. I know graphics will suck, but will that be good enough to teach the principles of rc flight?

FMS will do the job. If you're just looking to learn orientation etc, it's great. Beware, though, if you have VISTA. You will need to insert a .dll file into your windows directory, and you will have to turn the texture off, which more or less makes the program look like complete crap. The planes look fine, but the background is basically green and blocky. If you are working from XP, everything should work well. You wont find a better FREE sim.

I use FMS and think it's great. I have the demo version of G3.5 also, which looks a little more real, but flying seems pretty similar. If you just want to get your thumbs used to flying, get FMS; totally worth it (well, it IS free...).

Wow, OrangeKat. I have the demo of G4, and I was curious to see what the g3 demo is like. The avistar is terrible on G3! It barely rolls, and it doens't do anything close to snap! And it's like a tank in the sky! get the G4 demo. You will find it 10000 times better!~

It says that you can DL mode models online, but where?

rc-sim.de

obviously go to the English part, and look for links for FMS; there you will find planes, backgrounds, etc.

I'm wondering if the Typhoon for FMS is accurate. I've been flying it, and it's a blast . . and that's using the keyboard.

I wonder whats accurate, too. Some of the planes I like a lot (GPLWS, a low-wing trainer), there's the Hangar 9 Pulse, which people say is a great second plane, but on FMS it seems a little slow/slow to respond, then there's the aerobats that I think might respond a little too well (they seem to easily break the laws of physics). But like I said FMS trains your thumbs; I don't think about switching directions if the plane is heading toward or away from me (when I do think about it is when a mistake happens; it's become second nature). I think landings are pretty realistic in the sense that you can land kind of hard without the plane crashing, but not too hard. Some sims you can land 6" below the ground and the plane is still OK, others seem a little too sensitive. All in all, it will help you (hey I'll say it again, it's late and i'm tired) train your thumbs.

Enjoy, and remember all the add-ons you can find at rc-sim.de
