field box
I have been searching for some field box plans, as simple as a few pics and dimensions. I am just trying to keep my options open. If you have pics of your box shoot them up here so i can take a look.
thanks!! Preston |
RE: field box
Go to your local harweare store or Walmart and but a Black & Decker rolling tool chest. I've had one for about five years now and they hold just about everything, they even have a flip up handle to pull them with.

I have a Kyosho fieldbox I got from a "Scratch and Dent" sale at Tower. It was in a crushed box but some epoxy and a few brads fixed it up. Thereafter I set it on a safety stand and the vibration knocked it off and I had to once again repair it. One addition I did make was to put a block in the back corner of the drawer and drill a hole through it from the upper tray down into that block. Now I drop a 2.5mm long shanked hex driver through the tray hole and into the block in the drawer and I no longer dump the drawer (which used to be easy to do). It's also a "secret" drawer release that helps prevent "borrowing" of tools. Last club I belonged to there was a member who helped himself as needed and occasionally remembered to return the item.

RE: field box
There are pictures of quite a few wood boxes on the Tower web site:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0093p?&C=PGA You'll have to guess at most of the dimensions. It really depends on what you want to put in it. If you have a fuel jug, or can, you know how big that area needs to be. I use the Goldberg Mini Tote to actually carry to the pits. It holds Fuel, Pump, Battery, Starter, Glow Driver, Screwdriver. It costs $10 at Tower and goes together easily. Everything else is in a big Plano tackle box that weighs a ton. It stays in the truck. This one is similar: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...11000_100-11-9 |
RE: field box
I have yet to build one, I want to, but have not had time yet. So for now I have a field "box." Yes, I actually use a cardboard box. Works great, but is not very organized and takes me a little bit to find small stuff in the bottom.

Well I ont have plans but I just made myself a feild box a couple of weeks ago and it turned out great. I figured I would post some pictures just to give you a general idea of what to do. I just cut and glued together some scrap plywood and used a closet hangar bar (huh?:D) as a handle, then a little spray paint and viola im done. keep in mind I am ony 13 and did this without any help =D.
Good luck, Tyler |
