Rib repair on wing question?

What type of adhesive should be used to glue in a new rib?

You can use CA, or wood glue. Either one will do fine. You don't need to use epoxy as that will just add extra weight.

I prefer wood glue for everything like that, but Ken is right - either will do well. Just one word of caution with the CA. Don't get the CA anywhere near sheeting when repairing. If you sheet anthing with CA you will end up with ridges at the joints after you sand. This is because the CA sands much slower than the balsa.

Wood glue is all I use when I build as well.

jentzsch,

I did a wing repair article a while back while fixing an Alpha 60 [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=910]How To: Wing Repair[/link] that is in the RCU Magazine How To section. It may give you some insight on a wing/rib repair and the mix of glues I used. I had to replace several ribs, and repaired just about every rib in both wing panels.
