Combo Find
Hey guys, i'm trying to make a combo for a 3D airplane with good stuff on it and i have some questions. First, i think i will go for the Futaba 7C radio since it's enough for me to start. However, i have seen on a futaba 3PK some parameters about the signal speed response for the servos. The HRS, the PCM and the PPM. They told me that the PPM is for digital and analog servos, BUT the HRS is only for the digital servos and if i put an analog servo with that parameter on, then the analog servo will burn. Does the 7C has these parameters too?
For the time, i'm looking for something cheap, like that: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDUL8&P=7 It says that is capable of 3Ds. Anyone have this model? If yes, please, can you share with me a bit of info? :D |
RE: Combo Find
PPM/PCM has little to do with the servo itself. It is the mechanism used to transfer data to the receiver. As far as the servo is concerned it doesn't know if the transmitter is communicating via PCM or PPM. |

The UCD 46 will work fine with Standard Servos all around or you can go the recommended route and put a high torque servo on the rudder. Digital servos are not needed with this plane. Remember digital servos have great "holding power" which is important for larger planes with big control surfaces and prone to blow back and flutter. I wouldn't worry about digital servos until you are into something larger than a .60+ sized plane. |
RE: Combo Find
Ok. I think i found my plane. Now i must communicate with my LHS that brings great planes and see what we can do for that. He also brings JR and Hitec servos. I think i will go for Hitecs, don't you think so?

I think i will go for Hitecs, don't you think so? I've used close to 130, 7.00/ea high torque CHEAPIE analog servos on many planes w/o incident. Strangely I've had the most problems with Hitec's not that they are bad in any way... I just had 3 bad Hitecs over 12 purchased and only 2 bad "cheap" servos over 130 purchased. In call cases I test the servos once installed, before flight... e.g. resisting surface movement while moving the sticks, doing this with the engine running at various throttle settings ( this is how I caught the bad Hitecs ), even having other people examine my setup in case I overlooked anything ( this is how I caught the 2 bad cheap servos ). I have yet to have a failure with a JR, Futaba or even a Hobbico servo. |
RE: Combo Find
There are a number of U-Can-Do planes in my club, and people can't stop talking about them. They are gentle enough for a second or third low wing plane, but throw in some power and high rates and they can spin, climb, just about everything except for some pretty week knife edges (they roll over).
Everyone loves that plane, you will to. |

RE: Combo Find
The 46AX is a dynamite engine, however for the U-Can-Do 3D the 70 four stroke is a more popular choice.

RE: Combo Find
ORIGINAL: Osirisf16 You must destroying a lot of servos, right? :D I don't understand why you would say that? I've already listed ALL of the servos I've had problems with. I do have over 24 planes though, which is why I'm employing so many servos... check my profile for most of the list. |
RE: Combo Find
Ooh [X(] That's a lot of planes dude. And they all safe? Congrats:D
