duel wing servo control??

I am building an Ultimate 40 ARF from Nitroplanes...as some of you already know;). I installed my Spektrum receiver and battery and have a problem with my wing servos and that is that when I use a Y connector to hook the two seperate servos to one lead going into the aileron port both servos operate in the same direction. that is that both sides go up or down together. I have used this exact same duel aileron servo, y connector setup, same receiver etc. in another plane and it works just fine. I am very confused now- did I miss something basic here. Here I thought I was just about ready to break in this new engine and take this plane out this weekend.

Double check the orientation of the servo horns. That is, are the horns both on the "right or left" side of the servos? if so, set them so they're both on the "root" or "tip" side of their respective servos. :)

A VERY rough general idea below:

If you look down on the plane, and the servos look like this : =|| =||

Make them look like this: =|| ||=

Hope that makes sense. :)

Mike,
Ok, how do you have your servos set up?? When you attach the ailerons to the servos they pushrods should be on opposite sides of the servo for each side of the wing. For instance, the pushrods should either be both on the outside of the servos, or both on the insides of the servo. This way, the movements for each aileron will be opposite each other.

Bingo- thats exactly what happened. the way the servo had to be mounted won't leave me room to simply reverse or flip the servo over. can I cut and reverse the wires in one servo? Naa I bet that can't happen can it!

No, you can't reverse the wires in the servo. If you do that you will burn out the servo. Unless I am missing something here, why can't you just move the pushrod to the other side of one of the servos??

i guess I could try that- the servo is mounted sideways in the wing- but I'll try it.
Thanks

Could it be tht the servo is mounted so the servo arm moves the same way as the aileron horn? If this is the case, you will mount your servo so the hubs are both pointing at the tips or the cord, and both are at the fron, or rear of the servo. You would want the azis of the servo output to be on the same line so the pushrods are the same length. THe linkage is a mirror image of the other side.

Forget the "Y" and hook them up to two channels. You're into an "Ultimate" now. Put away your trainer ways. ;-) Unless you only have a four channel receiver you should have dual aileron ports.

Good News- I was able to flip one of the servos over and all is well. Thanks for the help guys, I may make it out yet this weekend.
