HElp! battery not charged??
 

I started charging my battery on my Avistar last night around 730pm, and at 930am the next day I wanted to check the servos, It worked for about 2 mins before not working again. I am not sure what to do.

What is the capacity (mah) of the battery, and what is the rate (ma) of the charger?

Id have to go back home and check. ITs the battery that came with the plane. The charger has an rx and tx indicator light on it. Both lights turn on when charging and turn off when done ( I assume) Both lights went off in the charger, so I just wanted to check the controls before I left.

Im sorry I am still a novice with alot of questions, I thought if anyone you guys would be the ones I should ask

Sounds like you are using a standard wallwart charger that will charge your transmitter and receiver at the same time.
Several things to look at.
1. make sure your switch on your plane is turned off when charging and make sure your switch is hooked up right. (most switches have the single lead going to the receiver and the spare lead where there are 2 wires coming out of the switch is for charging)
2. Make sure it is a dead battery and not a problem with comunication with your transmitter (crystals fully seated, antenna routing ect...)
3. Use a loaded voltmeter or voltwatch to check your battery, something you should do before every flight anyway.
4. it may be possible you have a bad charger or battery but check everything else first.

I don't believe the lights go out on my wallwart charger. Make sure the outlet that the charger is plugged into is not controlled by a switch, and if it is make sure you do not turn it off when you go to bed. Make sure it was plugged into the battery all the way and in the right direction.

hypersprint is quite right. The indicator leds on wall chargers only indicate current flow and do not shut off, these chargers charge all the time they are plugged in and are not peak detecting.

If the lamp is not on in the morning something broke the circuit and your actual charge will be unknown. Frequently the plugs can be wiggled causing an open circuit or using the wrong size charge plug (using a different brand wall charger).

There are so many unknowns here as the OP didn't give a lot of info?

How old are the batteries and plane?

Was the plane owned and run by someone else?

When was the last time the batteries in the plane were replaced?

Were the batteries over left charging for MUCH too long?

Did the charge indicator light ( already asked ).

Was the plane accidentally left "ON"?

Has a new battery pack been tried?

What is the capacity of the battery ( asked ) and charger?

When was the last time the batteries in the plane were replaced? n/a

Were the batteries over left charging for MUCH too long? charged for 12 hours if that

Did the charge indicator light ( already asked ).

Was the plane accidentally left "ON"? no

Has a new battery pack been tried? no, just bought the plane

If the charge LED on the wall wart charger went out during the charge, then the battery is most likely not charged (as you say) and there was some sort of fault with the charger.

Only thing to do at this time is re-try the charge cycle to see if the LED on the RX side of the charger remains lit. If it goes out, then there is either something wrong with the charger or the wall socket you plugged it in to. If you can isolate it to the charger.. plug it into a different wall socket for instance.. and it still goes out, then see if you can get a replacement from wherever you bought the plane. If it's the wall socket, well, perhaps an electrician can help you out?? ;)
