Best Day Ever

Best day for three reason (Only one Directly RC related, but the other two will effect RC):

1.) My Tiger 60 kit came today. I already started gluing the horizontal stab. Its going well.
2.) Got my License today (Drive myself to the field)
3.) FIRST DAY OF SUMMER BREAK (More time to go to field)

If only I had time to actually go to the field and fly, but still and amazing day.

Shortymet55:
Because of your comments I have traveled over the past and have remembered many nice things that I use to do and I had back then, my first license, my first kit and those great summer days.
I want to thank you for that.
Enjoy your build, there are a lot of good days coming on, just be aware of them. Keep a smile on your face.;)

Thanks again.

I am not too old to remeber, but it makes me realize just how good I had it back then.... It seems when you are young you want to be older, but once those days are gone you'll miss 'em.

Enjoy your summer break, congrats on getting your DL, and good luck on the kit build! [sm=thumbup.gif]

I had all that and one of my TV channels came out of Canada from across the Detroit River. Actually, I remember my dad paying less than $0.20 per gallon.

I remeber those days, I am not quite as old as some, but I do remeber when $10 would get you a great night out driving in a car that got 7 mph, maybe, I also remeber not have any extra money and I had to leave the hobby because I could not afford to join a club and or buy airplane stuff.

I can remember as a kid when we would go drag racing (street) we use to buy Gulf Crest it was the highest octane that you could buy at the time. To the tune of .25 gal. My dad use to say-wish I had your kind of money.

Bruce, I ain't complaining, but I used to pump gas at .199 / gallon... Every now and then someone would stop with a Daytona Superbird, and would fill it for $7 or $8...

I'm over 50, and just able to start buying kits and arfs. Good luck Shorty!

RE: Best Day Ever

I must admit, this kit is quite intimidating. So much so i want to get it done, which means im rushing. I dont think Ive messed anything up, but i think I'm further than I should be. In two day, Ive finished the Horizontal and vertical stabs with related control surface. Hinges cut and tested. And im almost done the left side of my wing. Im doing the sheeting on the top and the only thing stopping me is the lack of clamps, so i want to wait until all glue is dry, because im afraid me sticking pins in will shack it enough for other glue joints to break. Should I be this far? Im using wood glue too, so i have to wait for it to dry. Im afraid im going to fast and Im bound to screw up. I dont want to though.

RE: Best Day Ever

When you are doing sheeting, you can use a stack of magazines for pressure, they will conform to the curve. 8 to 10 will work. I also use sandwich bags, double zip type filled to different degrees with sand for pressure, they conform well also to do sheeting and just pressing parts while the longer curing glue dries. The kit goes together quite quickly, if you spend any time working on it. Just make sure to read the directions twice for each step. You may find the covering takes as long as the stick build. You are building an incredible flying plane there, you are going to love the way it moves.

If you think you are rushing, slow down a tad. It doesn't sound like you're too fast but extra clamps help.
