Uproar Setup

I am setting up my first plane (I am currently into helis). I have a friend that is going to help me tweak the plane at the field but I need help now. I bought an uproar and need help with radio setup with the dx7. I know the following for servo to rx. thro to thro rud to rud ele to ele. What I can't figure out is what to do with the alirons. Do I turn Flapperon on in the radio. Help.

RE: Uproar Setup

The Uproar uses dual aileron servos. You can get a Y harness and plug both servos in to the same channel. My radio (Futaba) has a flaperon switch, and allows you to plug the ailerons in to channels 1 and 6. I haven't done this so I don't know if it requires slaving channel 6 to 1 or not. Best thing to do though is use the Y harness until you've gotten comfortable flying the plane and using the radio. Using flaperons reduces the amount of action your ailerons have when landing, and you probably don't need flaperons to land that plane anyway.

But if you use a y harness then the alierons would move in the same direction correct? For a plane to turn dont you want one to go up and the other to go down.

They move in the same direction, that's true, but you have to set it up so that the pushrod is on the right side on one, and the left side on the other (push rod goes on the outside of the servo on each side). I believe this is the same even if you slave the channels together; channel 6 would mimic what channel 1 does, so would operate in the same direction. It's all about the physical set up.

Read this forum. RCKen had posted a diagram. I think it's the third posting in this topic.

No, as Garcfield said, you place the pushrods on opposite sides of the servos.

RE: Uproar Setup

The "Y" will work fine, or you can set the wing type as flaperon per info on pages 39 through 41 of the manual. You can always take the manual to the field with you and have your friend help with the final setup.

Even though I have never used the flaperon function as flaps, I prefer having the ailerons on two channels. Two 6" extensions coming out of the receiver is cheaper than one "Y" so I save a few dollars here and there. Those few dollars eventually pay for a gallon of fuel.
