Another Newbe
 

I have posted here several times but never introduced myself. Just started flying last Dec. [Christmas gift] and am totally addicted. Live in Jackson, TN and belong to the West Tennessee RC Flyers.

Started with a Nexstar [the christmas gift] lost it when it stalled on landing, a light wind did not help. An old time pilot and neighbor gave me his old trainer [built in the 80's] and I have learned alot with it. Crashed into trees near our field and rebuilt, then crashed again when the receiver battery went south. Am repairing it again, am learning alot about repair work.

Nice to meet you Gary. Keep practicing and those crashes will become less and less frequent!

Are you getting instruction from somebody? If so, you shouldn't be having all these crashes.

I have had instruction with the guys in my club and soloed several months ago. One problem I have is that I cannot fly on weeked very often and must fly in the evenings and there is usually never anybody around.

My first crash with the nextar was with a trainer by my side, had landed many times and this one looked picture perfect until a little wind picked it up and I over reacted and it stalled, then I gave it full throttle and it torqued and went into the ground. Not much left.

One I got disoriented [flying alone] when plane was headed toward some houses. i got it turned around and dumb thumbed and l;ost it into some trees.

the last crash was caused by not getting a receiver battery charged fully. Bought a cycling charger and am checking more often.

Okay, that makes sense. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't happening during training. If it was I would have suggested finding another instructor. ;)
