Receiver Placement
 

I am currently building a Sig 4* 40 and I have come to the point where I have to figure out my servo, battery, and receiver layout. I have my servos all set, and a good place for my battery as well, so my question is about the receiver placement.

First of all, I have a Spektrum DX6i, so this is a 2.4 receiver. I was wondering if it would be ok if the remote receiver was placed right beside or on the battery? The reason I ask is because it is very convenient to mount it there. I could find another spot for it, but if there is nothing wrong with that, then why make more work for myself. So I figured I would ask the experts here and see what comes up.

Well, they recomend that they are separated by as much as you can, and that one antenna is in the vertical plane and the other is in the horizontal plane, meaning perpendicular to each other. I usually just mount my second one on the side of the fuselage over by the servos with the main RX on a short piece of 1/8 ply cut to size of the main RX, and secured down with velcro and foam. Where you place them is pretty much a no brainer as long as you separate them and provide that perpendicular orientation of the antennas.
