Recover???

Hi, after smashing my fuselage (see world's biggest idiot post) I'm ready to recover the plane. I peeled back the monokote away from the fuselage to get to the balsa, and have repaired the wood damage. My question now is how do I reattach the monokote that I peeled partially off???? Do I use a hobby iron and apply heat, or can I just use CA every so often to attach the monokote?? Let me know what you would do.....Thanks.

If you haven't ruined the covering, try ironing it back on. You may have to put some CA in places to make it stick, but then it is stuck forever. You can also cut it off and replace it, (my preferred method) or do like some others and cover the new stuff in a different color and eventually you will have a totally new color design every time you fix.

IMO, it's best to cut the old covering off and replace it with new.
There is usually a very slight layer of wood stuck to the covering after it is peeled back which makes it very difficult to re-apply.

Thanks for the replies......I don't think I've damaged the monokote, since it peeled off in sections (top. and sides of fuselage in 3 pieces pulled back) Lately I've spent enough money on accessories etc. so I think I'm gona try the re-iron approach using CA if necessary. You were correct about there being a very thin film of wood attached to the monokote, so I may have my work cut out for me.

Apply some balsarite, and re-apply.
