rx type

I just bought the same model tx, the Futaba R148DF 8 channel will work, just make sure you get the right high or low freq rx model. I read on another post that if tx is low freq. and receiver is high freq. or vise-versa it can cause performance problems I'm guessing that's the one your looking at thru Tower Hobbies. I would keep watching rcuniverse.com, I see them posted on here on the classifieds for about half to 3/4 the cost.

Super 8

Servo City is, or has been, selling Futaba r148df 8-channel receivers for $49...that's more than 1/2 off. If you buy a Futaba receiver make sure you buy the correct frequency range (high band or low band) to match your transmitter. If I'm not mistaken, Low Band is channels 11-35 and High Band is channels 36-60.

In regards to the Super 8, it is a great transmitter. I fly with one and love it...8-channels, 8 model memory, lots of programming capabilities, an all around great performer. Just so you have something to compare to, I bought mine new in the box from a member here on RCU with 4 s148 servos, switch, 600mAh battery, r148df receiver and the manual for $270. It had never been used. Good luck!

Tower brand radio gear is, in fact, Futaba gear in disguise. (at least the tower gear I have and have seen, I haven't checked the whole line). So, yes, your Tower RX will work with a Futaba TX, assuming both are FM. PCM is a different story.

In general, Futaba and default Hitech and Tower all work together. (RX and TX)

JR and Airtronics work together (RX and TX), but not with the above set.

Hitech, FMA, GWS, and many others make RXs that come in two models, one for either type of TX. Some companies make switchable RXs that can work with either.

Hitech and Polk make a switchable TX that can work with any RX (again, assuming all FM here).
