Well I got the Hanger 9 Super Stick.

I look forward to putting it together. I sat and read the instructions and noticed the hinges use epoxy. That is weird I thought. They are not hinge pin type either. I was thinking of buying the pinned type. I may try these first. I have helped my buddy build his Kaos and it had CA hinges. My Dolphin came pre hinged with pined hinges. I am not familar on how to use these. But there is a first time for everything.

epoxy is a good adhesive to use for plastic hinges with a pin in them. Rough up the plastic with sandpaper. Wipe off any epoxy that squishes out. Are you saying the hinges supplied with the kit are "CA" type hinges? Like a single piece of fabric? These are usually installed with very thin CA.

If you are not comfortable with their fit, do a search for how to pin hinges. I use CA type hinges and pin them with toothpics on all my models.

i like ca hinges they are fast and easy,i also like pinned hinges you can use tooth picks to pin them in place also.use a tooth pick and smear Vaseline on the hinged areas on pinned hinges to keep the epoxy from causing them to glue together.when the epoxy cures you can use a #11 blade and pick the excess away easily.

I suspect these hinges are not CA hinges but instead the creased plastic types that was almost universal with early ARF's and some kits. These are non porus like the plastic pin hinges and are installed with epoxie, CA will not work. They are not very durable and I would suggest not using them if that is what you have.

True CA hinges are great and all brands are made of a very porus like material and they should only be installed with Thin CA, never anything else.

They are the creased plastic type...or maybe nylon. I am not going to use them. I would rather uae the ones with the metal hinge. I think the slots are to big for CA hinges. I am going to the hobby shop to see what my options are.

The Super Stick kit is definatly a cheap kit. But I think I can put it together and modify a few things. The hinges are the most pertinant problem right now.

Good decision the creased plastic are a failure waiting to happen and I would never use them. Regular pin type hinges will work fine or my choice when I don,t use CA hinges are robart single point hinges not flat hinges. They will work fine in the old slots just buy drilling.

Buy the way CA hinges are still an option by abandoning the original slot and make new one near the old if you want to go that way.

I think the hinges with the metel pin between the 2 halves are your best bet and buy some Hinge glue to go with them. It holds much better than epoxy, no mixing involved, and its reasonably cheap. I don't like the CA hinges at all. Cheers. [8D]
