Alu undercarriage
 

Hi,

Could anyone point me in the direction of a supplier or shop who sells aluminium undercarriages to suit a Black Horse Travel air? Pref in the UK! Indeed, is aluminium better than GRP, if not, who sells GRP ones:D

Still avec trainer but want to get the second one on the go as an inspiration to get out flying on cold wintery mornings we will be seeing shortly!!

BC, I'm not sure who sells what in the UK, but I'll say this, unless you know the aluminum UC is properly tempered and strong enough I would "NOT"touch one. I seen only one aluminum UC that would stand up to a moderatly rough landing. Most tend to fold up at the first chance. I have a faviorite set, http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNM65&P=ML It can be painted, wheel pants added, you name it. I have destroyed several planes that had them mounted and they were always ready for the next after. There may be others like this one on the market, but haveing found this one, I've quit looking.

When I first was learning to fly, four flights a day with three props was the norm. That was with the Trainer with wire UC. I soon turned this into a pile of sticks with a repariable wing. I built a stick fuselage for the wing and used the above UC on it. My landings were not much better for quite a while, but a prop would now last me for several days. I have used this UC on everything from the 40 size home brew stick through two 4*60's and a Great Planes Super aeromaster bipe.

If you are flying scale, this probably isn't the UC for you, but if you can put up with the different look, you won't go wrong with it.

I used this type to convert my trike gear to a tail dragger, it would be perfect for you IMO.[sm=thumbs_up.gif]
