What is the formula to figure your scale?
 

How do you figure out what scale your plane is? Either fraction or percentage (Preferr percentage)? Also, who carries the most/best cockpit kits? (I may make a seperate post for this second question) Many thanks for any info, Ken

Divide actual aircraft dimension into model dimension and result will be percentage. Example: Real plane has 20 ft wing and model has 2 ft wing. Be sure to use same units feet or inches. 20 divided into 2 = .1 or 10 percent. It's a simple ratio.

Or go the other way. Divide your airplane's wing span (2) into the full size airplane's wing span (20) to get scale. In this case, 20 divided by 2 is 10 which gives you a 1:10 scale. If your model had a four foot span and the full size plane had a twenty foot span, divide 20 by 4, resulting in 5. This is a 1:5 scale or a 1/5 scale. Just remember to use the same units throughoutinches, feet, yards, football fields, whatever.
