Which one??
 

I'm getting pretty good with my Alpha trainer and I'm looking to build my first kit. I think I've narrowed it down to two choices: Either the SIG 4* 60 or the Bruce Tharpe Venture 60. It appears they are both great 2nd planes, and I'm leaning toward the Venture (appears to be a more refined craft than the SIG) My question is, Is the more expensive Venture (about $ 47 more) worth the extra dough, or should I just go with the SIG? Also since I'll be needing to buy a .61 engine, would you go with the O.S. FX-61, or is the cheaper Thunder Tiger Pro .61 up to snuff, being about $ 50 cheaper?? Let me know your thoughts.....

Can't go wrong with the 4*60 and an OS .61FX. Can't speak for the TT .61, I've never had one.

I have a 4* 60, and love it!!! It fly's great , lands great, and does aerobatics great. Not to mention easy to build and inexpensive.
I will recommend that if you get the 4* 60 that you use a 4 stroke .91. If you haven't tried a 4 stroke yet, do! They use less fuel and make less mess, plus they sound cool. I would highly recommend Magnum 4 strokes, I have two of them so far and they both have run great from the time I got them, through break in, and still running great. If you decide on the 4 * let me know and I will give you a couple easy building tips that will make it even better.

A friend of mine (old timer) has a venture and he tells me that it is one of the best cut kits he has ever seen! Dowl sanded ribs and such. As I understand it both kits were designed by the say guy, first the 4* then the venture on his own.

Jeff thats good to know about the magnum 4S, I've been putten the eyeball on um but wasn't sure. Thanks

I have the TT Pro .61 and it's a good engine. While others can tell you every micronic specification that you never wanted to know about engines, I can only tell you that mine cranks when I ask it to and it stays in the air.

If you think spending that extra $50 will help make a difference in your flying enjoyment, then by all means give it up. However, if you were to visit the engine forum you would discover that there isn't an engine made that someone hasn't experienced a problem with at one time or another. What else could you buy with that $50, a spare RX or TX battery? Get the most for your money, not the most expensive.
