Is there a way to use your (Futaba Skysport) radio with any of the flight simulators out there?
Thanks Shane |

I'm not familiar with that exact model but if it has a buddy box port you can use it wil Real Flight G2. You just plug the trainer cord into the trainer port on the back of the Real Flight controller and you are all set.

Realfilght G2 comes with the buddy cord to fit a Futaba or JR radio. You just plug it in and change a setting on the sofware to use the buddy cord and you are all set.

Great. Thank you. I have yet to fly my avistar, (waiting for nice weather) would this be a wise investment? I am going to be with an instructor for as long as it takes. I know those sims aren't exactly cheap.
Thanks Shane |

I think it is a great investment. The Realflight G2 Sim is around $200. I bought the Lite version and if I had it to do over I would buy the full version. It is much more configurable and has many more airplanes that can be downloaded. I use it to practice flying my new planes before I attempt to fly the real thing. It will teach you the control very well. You will be way ahead with your flying if you use the sim a lot. The depth perception will definitely not be the same but it will really help. My son learned on the sim and he has not crashed the real plane yet. He only buddy boxed twice before he soloed.

I have a pretty old (about 3 or 4 years) pc. It is a celleron (sp) 366. It has windows 98. Any clue how it would be on such an old machine?
Thanks Shane |

I don't think so. Realflight takes a good video card, with a bunch of memory.

Try FMS, it's not as flashy as RealFright but it is free and it runs fine on my PII 350. You can buy an interface to connect your Tx from hundreds of places, usually with the program on CD thrown in, try ebay or a google search. You can even build your own interface.
Plenty of discussion about it in the Flight Sim forum. Steve |

Go to http://www.realflight.com and review the requirements...

Shane,
Here's a link to a guy who makes and sells interfaces for FMS which should work fine with your computer. He includes FMS on a CD for about $22.00 shipped! Can't beat that with a stick. :D http://www.mattclement.freeservers.com/fms/fms.html Dennis- |

Thank you all so much for your input on this subject. Ill start checking around. It sounds like it will help a great deal when it comes to my first flight. I'm just hoping the weather will be a litle more cooporative this coming weekend. :)
