Receiver range

HI,

Could someone tell me the range of futaba receivers? I am bashing together another AFTF but havent got a receiver. Spotted some 600m ones but they seem o the low side, but cant find any ther info to confirm/negate.

Thanks

Ben

RE: Receiver range

A FULL RANGE receiver should permit you to take a plane out to 2000 feet with ease.

At that distance though, even a large plane will be a spec in the sky so we never fly them out that far.

Micro receivers made for smaller foamy type planes typically have ranges under 800 feet.

I put a Micro receiver in a small XPD-8/Miglet EDF jet, and found that it kept falling out of the sky, because I was hitting the range limit of the receiver so quickly.

A standard FULL RANGE Futaba RX of either the FM/PCM or the new 2.4 GHz will be able to control the plane as far as you can see it with the naked (unassisted) eye. You may not be able to determine aircraft orientation at that range however so it would not be recommended. Anything beyond such range would be foolish and illegal in most countries anyway.

Not familiar with the term:AFTF

lol aRtf of course!!!

600m is the listed range so that is just under 2000ft. Wouls be ok I guess. I thought as much with regards to the still being able to see the model to safely fly. I have been recommended a hitec instead of the GWS and a nice uk shop has an offer on for two, which suits me niccely! Thanks for your help fellas!!

I really have been happy with Hitec receivers, I particularly like the Hitec Supreme II

I had problems with my Hitec Mini6S in a 40 sized trainer. It is a Single Conversion. I switched to the Supreme IIs and have yet to have a glitch. With the Min6S I was getting consistant glitches and it was a very scary situation. I tried it several times with the same problems.
Good Luck,
Curtis

Yep, its the supreme I am looking at, only half the price of the futaba so I am happy it gets decent reviews!!
