I have even been know to have to break ice when duck hunting down in the central valley so don't let Chuck tell you it doesn't get cold there.
A few days ago I took the dog outside before getting ready for work and there was ice. I've been lazy and haven't turned the sprinkler timer off yet. The poor dog... all of her toys were frozen stiff and she wasn't happy. In January that would make sense but this is only October. Kinda weird for this neck of the woods. Of course it is back in the 80's today.

Anything is a welcome relief from summer right now though. I don't know how you do it down there in Vegas. I hate the 105 degree days here. When I was down in your area in July it was 105 at night. Sure there was a breeze but it felt like a hair dryer.

That -20 stuff up in the Northern states doesn't sound fun. I've flown in the morning when it was 20 degrees and it hit 2 degrees up at Shave Lake a couple years ago while I was there in that cold spell but negative does not sound good.

Speaking of duck hunting... just got a great golden retriever puppy. I haven't hunted since I was a kid but I think she'd do well with a little maturity and training. I may have to give it some thought.

Last weekend it never hit 60 here. The temps here in the summer are about the same as in the central valley but you hit it on the head, it doesn't cool down at night. Main thing for us is it's not humid and our old bones feel A big bunch better then up in them there hills. :D No acres to mow either, no lawns!!
If you decide let me know, I still have two duck guns left. I had been selling off my guns before I moved here and still have A few left. ;) Even have A nice upland gun in the safe.

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT !!!!!!!! LOL Winterize? :D;) That is for motorcycles, not flying.
Not here, we have a charity motorcycle ride each year called the panzya@@ ride! It takes place in the middle of December and if you don't make it you're a panzya@@![sm=wink_smile.gif] When I had my shadow I was gonna do it each year, but it was too cold.[sm=72_72.gif]

I have a plane that's just perfect for the season: A Slow Poke 10 with skis. I may also have a Citabria set up some time before December, and I may take advantage of the air density to see how it flies. Yes, I'm in Michigan. But, I'm one of them folks who does their flying year round.

In Oklahoma we have 4 seasons. Hot, Hotter, Still Hot, and Christmas!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

Ken
I lived in Tenn. for little over a year, I really really dislike hot weather, I don't like to go outside if it is above 85 degrees. Up here now is the best time to fly, no humidity and temps in the 50's and sixty's, I have flown in the teens but the engine gets hard to start :)
come on, I've been living here my whole life and you don't see me complaining:), yeah I hate the hot summers but, I still have chickens to feed and horses that need feed, last year our pond dried completely up, lost all the fish we had put in it that spring[:o], but this year it has suffered but it survived, I have to get off this rabbit trail, I'm still on the trainer, and havent soloed yet, so I think I will try to fly all winter, its usually gets at the lowest 20 and thats at night and it rarely snows, just cold, but 35-40 and maybe a good snow to get school cancelled[8D], I love winter, I'm not gonna built a kit until next year so I mignt get my stik 40 flying, and maybe santa will bring me a 4* for chrismas:D, or I'll take a bigger weight bench (don't know where I'll but it)

Winter? I don't think we have winter here in Florida..... :D

Hey in Michigan we only have 2 seasons: fall and winter.

Come one, I was born and raised in Michigan. The two seasons are mosquitoes and bad sking:D. You couldn't have model airplanes, the mosquitoes tried to mate with them. I lost two that way, models that is.

Don

Just back from a week in GA and North East FL and glad to be home on the central coast of CA tonight.

Just for grins, I just moved into my new home just outside of the Vegas Strip, A month and A half later I woke up to this!!! One of the reasons I moved out of the Yosemite area. This was 12 of 06 and it doesn't happen often but it does happen!!! For the most part I would be thrilled to death just to see A good rain storm this year, our monsoon season was A bust this year!! whats summer?.... well snow does help sometimes.... like crashes.. or should i say stunts :) though i do want to fly in winter i cant find any skis anywhere.. i hear a DIY project :P [or maybe i could just use floats?..hmm nope]

RE: Winter Storage

floats work better if the snow is fluffy. Ski's have a tendency to sink in when you give it power.
