Looking for a 40 size Biplane
 

I would like to buy an ARF or build a Biplane Kit and have an older OS61FS to use, so that probably limits me to a 40 2S size. This will be my first Bipe so I want to stay away from Ultimates and Pitts style, something a bit easier to fly. I like WW1 styles but I'm open to any suggestions. I really haven't seen much in this size, scale or non-scale is ok. If you know of any available please let me know. Thanks, G

Balsa USA Pheaton II kit has a low parts count looks good flies good

The GP Ultimate 40 kit on low rates is not bad at all. It is well behaved with no bad habits. It would make a good third plane in my opinion.

Modeltech SE5 is my first bipe. Gentle flyer. I run a Magnum .52 in mine a 61Fs should be a nice match.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Great Planes Ultimate .40 and I have one waiting to go on the bench this winter. It will be my first biplane as well. I have heard the same thing about Ultimates but I've talked to several people in my club who have this plane and they love it and say that it is a very easy plane to fly.

I had a chance to pickup an Ultimate kit for $75. this summer, but my instructor said it was a little too wild for a first Biplane. Maybe, I should have bought it and put it on ice for a year or so. I like the look of the SE5, I'm partial to WWI styles. I may have to look further into this one. Thanks, DG

sig smith miniplane, fun build, light and flies great, I had a .40 2 stroke magnum, a .61 would wake it up and fly with athority.
