At that price I'd be picking up 10 cases right NOW...

I was being quoted $32-$34.00/gal a few weeks ago from several LHS' for 15% Cool Power.

There are a good handful of planes that could be about right for a 26cc gasser:

Goldberg Tiger 1.20
Great Planes Giant Big Stik
Great Planes Giant U Can Do (maybe)
Great Planes Super Stearman
Great Planes Extra 300S 160 (might not be enough, depends what you want to do)
SIG Rascal 110
SIG Four Star 120
SIG Waco SRE
Hangar 9 Sundowner Formula 1
Hangar 9 (or any brand) 1/4 scale Cub
Hangar 9 Cessna 182
Seagull Spacewalker II
Seagull Sparrowhawk

Of course, having a bunch of choices is pretty wothless if you do not like any of them.

In theory, anything that recommends a 1.20 glow engine is a potential match for a 26cc gasser. In reality it's more complicated due to weight, cowl, and oher issues.

A few weeks ago we were at Mike's in Carrollton and all brands of 15% were under $20 per gallon.

Carrellh,
Does Mike's still give discounts if you buy by the case???

We bought 3 cases and did not get a discount. Maybe I should have asked? The worst he could have said is 'no.'

It's been a couple of years since I've been down there, but he used to give me a discount price if I bought it by the case.

The GP Extra is probably the only one I would have been interested in, and the 1.60 is like just barely enough to have fun with the plane (there's a whole thread about it); theoretically a 26cc would be less power and more weight to an already heavy-ish wing loading. Now I see why I was steered in a different direction.

Troy Built Models has a decent price on fuel: with the hazmat shipping charges it totals to $20/gallon for 10% (decent price for anyone who doesn't have a LHS with an already decent price that is).

Unless they are making bigger ones the Seagull Spacewalker II is a 40 size plane.
Mine flew great with a TT.46
Never mind, I just found the 120 size, add to wish list

That sure is a purty plane. For the record I think a spacewalker makes an excellent second plane and the colors of the seagull model are very easy to see in the air.

Here's one that Mike and I saw while covering [link=http://www.monsterplanes.com]Monster Planes[/link]. This Spacewalker was gorgeous. It's 1/2 scale and was totally scratch built by the owner/pilot. It was a nice sight to see in the air.

My LHS only went up a buck in price on Cool Power 15%. Price went up to $16.99 a gallon. I can live with that!!!

Ken
Wow! I paid $20.99 the last time I bought Cool Power 15%. It may be higher now, I'm not sure.

RE: tiger 60 with a 26cc engine?

ours went up about $5 for 10% and 15%
But in the defense of my LHS's I was getting 15% for like $14 or $15 at the beggining of the year.. (Maybe $16??) 10% was abotu a dollar less, but I was on 15% at the time so unsure there..

Why did I have to look at that!!!!

I sorely miss my departed Seagull Spacewalker .40... but a 1.20?

I'm there!

ya gaRCfield keep your newbie comments to yourself, LOL, just kidding.
I do try, honestly ;)

So what are planes that would suit the OP's engine find (26cc gasser) and his flying style? Just because the gasser won't be right for the Tiger 60 doesn't mean he should give up on the gas idea.
As I said above, 4-Star 120, and another post that pointed out Tiger 120. These are excellent planes for this size engine.

Ken
OK, going to jump in here. I have a Tiger 60 with a Saito 82, and it's going to stay that way. But I also have a 26cc gasser that I had plans for. BUT, a couple of guys at my club (that I recently joined, best thing I have ever done, but that's a story for another day/thread!) HIGHLY suggested that I get a plane without a cowl for my first gasser. This was to make it easier on myself for learning the ins-and-outs of gas engines. Really just don't care for the Stick style of plane, and so I was pretty set on a Four Star 120. Then you guys mention the Tiger 120! But, I like building from a kit, so is there any other open front (non-cowl) 120 size kits that are a sport plane type kit that you guys might suggest?
Thanks

Four Star 120 works good for me. I did get this one done and have been flying it this year. I don't have any pic. of it finished. Hummmmm got to do that. I do like the idea of no cowl. it Is easier to work on it.
