CG Tiger 2 ARF Engine??

I have ordered a CG Tiger 2 ARF. The question is what engine should I use? I would like to use an OS .46FX. Also any comments on the Tiger 2. It will be my second plane.

I run a 46 FX and like it fine. It starts easily and has plenty of power.
It didn't run well during break-in. Kept dying. But after 3 or 4 tanks, it settled in and runs fine.
The remote needle valve takes some getting used to. There is a delay when you make needle setting changes. It takes some patience, but otherwise it isn't a problem.

Thunder Tiger .46 pro is a good engine and will save you some money

Do a search on RCU about the Tiger 2. There are a number of forums regarding this plane.

The .46FX will make this plane scream..... The Thunder Tiger .46 is almost the same engine. It is about $20 to $30 cheaper because it is made in China.

Make sure you have plenty of weight up front. Also, set your aileron throws to the minimum. I've almost lost mine a couple of times because the throws were set too high. This plane has huge ailerons and can get real loose if the CG and ailerons are not configured right.

This is a good second plane.

YS 140. And yes it will scream in any direction. Even straight up.

I run mine with an OS 46 FX MAS 11x6 prop. A TT pro 46 would be just as good. Watch those wing bolt down blocks. Might think about some triangle stock glued underneath them for added strength. Great plane, ypou'll love it.

Installed solid maple blocks with 1/4 20 brass threaded inserts with 1/4 20 nylon bolts. I do love the performance and it will do anything I have a mind to do. It really tumbles, knife edge, blenders anything!

Ditto on crossed thumbs suggestion on the wing bolts.

Trash the blocks and bolts that are in the kit and replace them with Maple blocks, inserts, and nylon bolts!!!

I know of two Tiger ARFs that were lost because the wings fell off.

Appalled that Goldberg even suggested such a set up as what they sell in the ARF.

I'm running one with a 40FX. It has enough power but a 46 would be even better. Also might consider an Irvine .53. You can read about the Irvine in the fun fly and engine forums.

scottrc and crossed thumbs are right about the wing hold down blocks. I eventually did the hardwood blocks drilled out for 1/4 20 bolts as well. The original set up is a real bad design on an otherwise super plane.
