What is this like, Sky Surfer
Hey, I am thinking about buying one of these, im not looking for speed or anything, just something to mess around with which flies, and is reasonably easy to fly, and not too expensive.
Is this any good, if not does anyone have any suggestions on what to get?? Thanks!! Greg :p |
Power air surfer got me started and its super-cool
I got one at K-mart that must have been mispriced-- it was $15. It even came with an extra battery. It's basically controlled by switching power between two smal pusher propellers. Left only, right only, or both. The controller has two buttons, left and right, and a propeller on switch. you fly with the left and right buttons, and the trick is that you just TAP them. if you hold either button continuously for more than a fraction of a second, you will crash. But once you get that, it's great fun. That was a few months ago, and now I've got the fever. I just mastered my Sky Scooter (excellent next step) and I'm about to build a crazy max by wattage.

So, would you recommend it at the fulll price of £160?

I'm not great at currency conversions, but I would recommend it at $49.95, which is what it costs retail in the U.S. But I would also look at the Air Hogs R/C plane, which is also $49, and 2 channel, with differential propeller thrusts for steering. It may be called the "Enforcer." Go to the Hobby People website for these. They also have other two channel complete ready-to-fly planes for under $80. I can only vouch for the Air Surfer, but it's possible that the Air hogs are even more bang for the buck (which is quite a lot of bang). Serious hobbyists might disagree, but for $50, I don't think you can go wrong.
