hello,
I just bought a spektrum module for my 9C yesterday on ebay. i am a little confused on the receiver situation, though. I understand that DSM was the original modulation, and now they're using DSM2 for air applications....with DSM restricted to ground, is this right?
what is the difference between the AR6000, http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SPM6000
the AR6100, http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SPM6100
or the AR 6200? http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...odID=SPMAR6200
is the ar6100 a full range receiver or for parkflyers only?

It's my understanding that that 6100 is for park flyers and the 6200 is a six channel that it used for the larger glow planes (non park flyers). The 6100 came before the 6200 and wasn't intended for the further range that the glow engine planes would be flying at.

I use the AR6100 in my smaller sized park flyers and helicopters, I use the AR6200 in my 40 size plane. the 6200 is supposed to have a longer range. I've done range checks with both and realistically I've gone farther with both receivers then I would ever let a plane go. I can't help on the futaba module question I use a DX6I

have you ever experienced issues with the 6100? elevator-lock or something like that.
Thanks for the info, though. I will definitely get a 6200 for my larger plane.

The 6000 works fine for park flyers. The 6100 is also a park flyer reciever. Its not so much that is has a shorter range, they all operate at the same range, the main difference is the 6200 has a satilite receiver to prevent signal shadowing from things like engines, carbon or whatever.

I don't think dsm2 is restricted to air only. My dx3r has dsm 2 technology.

The module won't work with the AR6000, only with the DSM2 rx's.

I have not had any issues since I switched to spektrum. I got interference once while I was using my FM TX had had a plane auger, thats when I switched over. anymore if I crash it's my fault not the radios :D

DSM is only in the DX6 radio which is for aircraft or ground. AR 6000 is the only rcvr that works with it. DSM2 is in the rest of the Spektrum radios but the AR 6000 rcvr will work with them also. I have 6 of them working with the DX7 radio. It's a good RCVR as it has 2 RCVRs built into it and it is full range. The 2 ants. are 1 for each rcvr.

I'm not sure about the DX7 but the x9303 will bind with a 6000 and run in DSM mode.

You're right though, I don't think it works with a module.

Okay i just bought a dx6i on ebay nib for what i think was a steal........It said its dsm ..Is this true and if so is the AR6000 the only reciever that is compatible. I mainly fly small electric looking to get into a dfj. I guess what im asking is if its dsm instead of dsm2 is it still a good tx. Thankyou!

Yep, it is DSM and the AR6000 is the only rcvr that works with it. The only thing it doesn't have over the DSM2 is the Model Match. where, if you have the wrong model programmed, it will still respond. Not a big deal,72 meg radios and 2.4 Futabas do that too.:) I still have my DX6 as backup in case I have to send in the DX7 for repairs and wouldn's sell it at all, as many of the ones programmed in the 7 are also in the 6 and only need to be bound to fly on the 6.
It is a full range radio too.

If it is really a DX6 then only the AR6000 will work. If it really is a DX6i ( should be evident from the front panel) then all of the receivers will work. When using the AR6000 you do not have model match capabilities ( my understanding). I own both the 6 and the 6i Rich

as the pictures show and the specs read it is a dx6i so........it should be here end of the coming week if i have any more questions ill definatley fire at yall!! thanks for the help

The main thing to remember is DSM is for Park Flyers only, which is what DX6 uses.

DSM2 is designed for larger aircraft such as glow powered planes or similar size electric planes. DX6i uses DSM2.
