Dual elevator servos on Spektrum...help!

I've got a DX-7 and need dual elevators as well as dual alierons with an AR6200 reciever. The reciever is six channel reciever (for those that aren't familar) and has only one aux1 spot but also has a gear spot that won't be used. I tried using a y harness but servos move in opposite directions on the elevator. Output arms are both closest to elevator. Can this be setup somehow to work?

Thanks.

Spektrum has a "How-To" on their site about setting up dual elevators and ailerons. You can find that here: [link]http://www.spektrumrc.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1798[/link]

Hope this helps

Unless you can change the arm to the opposite side of the servo, you will have to use a "servo reverser" or a "reversed servo" for your elevator.

Happy Landings!

Looks like it may not work on a 6200 reciever only a 7000 RCKen. Thanks guys for the quick responses.

I just got done setting one up a couple hours ago using the 7000 receiver. I think you are right, you can't do it with the 6200. Your best bet if you want to use that receiver is a reversing Y-harness. I have a couple of the EMS ones and they seem to work well.

I use the DX7 for dual aileron servos and dual elevator servos. The elevator servo requries a reversing Y cable and works just fine. I've been trying to find a link for the Y cable but could I have not been able to find it yet. I believe I bought it from Tower but I can't be sure. It was a year or so ago that I bought the thing. I use the AR7000 receiver for this aircraft. However, I was under the impression that the TX set up the mix not the receiver.

Using the 7000 receiver, you can mix the elevator to the AUX2 channel and the ailerons to AUX1 and eliminate the need for reversing Y's. The 6200 receiver doesn't have an AUX2 though so your stuck using the reversing why for the elevator in that case.

That's right, it is 6 channel.. sorry about that. I knew it but was blocking that out for some reason. That's why my setup worked so easily.. :D

Thanks for all the responses.

Now who wants to trade a 7000 for a 6200?:D

Yes, but with that radio I'm sure you can slave any two channels. I have the same radio at home. I do not, however, have the setup you are referring to, so I've not tried this, but can you not slave the elevator and gear channels together? Ailerons and AUX1 together?
If not, then slave elevator and AUX1 together, and use a regular Y for the aileronsthe ailerons you just have to put the pushrod on opposite sides of the servo. This will eliminate the need for a reversing Y, which I have always found to be a point of weaknesseither in failing all together, or the POT constantly being messed up, and having to re-center the servos.
Any Mixing you do on this radio for this purpose needs to be on mixes 6 and 7, as those are the ones that provide single lever trim functions from the face of the radio. If you try it on other mixes, you'll quickly find out what I'm talking about.

Another good way is to use a matched pair of servos but with one of them reversed. JR offers the ST47 and ST47 Reverse (JSP20050 & JSP20050R). These should do the job if you are willing to pick up a pair,
http://search.horizonhobby.com/index...d=11ED1B04ABC3 shows both. The reverse costs a bit more due to the lower production volume would be my guess.

These on the end of a standard "Y" should do the job.

I'm about to swap out my futaba rx and install a AR9000 ..the reason being I am just not able to figure out dual elevators with my 9c.I must be really dumb.the hope is I can set up dual elevators easier on my spectrum DX7.
If all else fails is the a good servo reversing y harness that works well.I started out using a expert y harness with servo reverser and it sucks!!is there something better than a harness with all this technology.I am determined I will learn to reverso electronically.

Smart Fly Equalizer II

$35, incredibly simple and amazingly precise setup, simple wiring.

Can't beat 'em.

I love my 9C as it does do dual elevator servos. I tried all the servo reversing Y harness known to man kind and I could not come up with a combination that would give me equal throw on both elevators all the time. I got my 9C, programmed in the two servo's and have not looked back since. Good Luck, Dave

I have a 9C Super with an airplane using dual elevators. If I understand your post correctly, you have it set up in the radio but the throws aren't the same. I Worked through the same thing. Its simple, bring the clevis elevator pin in or out on the half of the elevator control horn you want to adjust, and then adjust the throw at that end to match. It's a mechanical adjustment, and it works.

I can't help with Futaba but with the Spektrum it's easy. Did you read RCKen's post above and look at the link? No need to use "extras" to accomplish what the radio already does without help. Easy to do but not covered in the DX-7 manual that I could find.

EDIT-I don't read anything about him having problems with throws and if they're not moving in the same direction or at all, why would he be concerned about throws at this point? Once they're mixed right on the DX-7 then the throws can be addressed if its an issue.

yeah I might have read that wrong. Dual elevators is so easy on the 9C I thought he had that. cloudancer, here's how to do it on the 9C http://futaba-rc.com/faq/faq-9c-q512.html

I did manage to get the spectrum working with dual elevators but the auxillary switch is still active meaning if I were to accidentally bump it one half of the elevator goes to an extreme postion.so it seems while I have it working I have somehow managed to deactivate that swtich.as for futaba to be honest with either process I want to get it right and never look back either.I use the features alot but this one has dogged me forever and is making me wonder why I try.
