RE: video help
Pardon my ignorance, but exactly what is a beginner doing with an infared camera?

RE: video help
And of course there is the UAV issue vis-a-vis the FAA...
|
RE: video help
And WHO said he is a beginner or that this is going in a UAV? A few assumptions being made here?
|
RE: video help
Now THIS http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8383671 makes me think he's a beginner and just a young guy looking for a new toy.

ORIGINAL: bruce88123 And WHO said he is a beginner or that this is going in a UAV? A few assumptions being made here? Let's play "House".... He stated S&R needs, which normally requires searching out of the line of sight, hence UAV... He posted in a beginners forum with no knowledge of restrictions nor camera requirements, hence "beginner". Ergo, he's a beginner asking a question about UAV type craft with an S&R bent... |

But enough speculation.:) |
RE: video help
ORIGINAL: bruce88123 Again, you ASSUMED the search object was to be out of line-of-sight (often not the case in real life, just not easily detectable by the naked eye) and ASSUMED he knows nothing of restrictions or camera requirements. What is your point though? What is WRONG with making an assumption? ORIGINAL: bruce88123 Some of your assumptions may bear fruit but are not based upon facts in evidence in the original post. So if I "assumed" something, what's the problem? Are you ASSUMING I'm wrong? If so you're speculating! Mustn't have that!!!! :D |
RE: video help
I'd like to hear more about what the original poster is looking for. In order for IR to work, the "lost" object needs to be warmer than the background. If he's looking for something that is already lost, it's gonna cool down before he gets up in the air.
I would expect that an amateur would have a tough time flying real time by IR. Maybe he's planning to have someone fly the plane and somebody else monitor the video feed. I know it's off topic for the beginner forum, but I enjoy hearing different concepts for using RC planes, even if many of them are dangerous or illegal :D |
RE: video help
I came back to check in and........wow, look what I started! http://members.cox.net/wmclark/Applaus.gif
Come on guys. Perhaps the original poster could reply with some additional detail. Bruce, Yes, I did speculate. A post in a "Beginners" forum under an "RC Airplanes" heading indicates an interest in flying a model aircraft. It also indicates the poster may be inexperienced. Whether the speculation was accurate or not is inconsequential, it's still off topic. |
RE: video help
The Beginner's forum does get a lot of questions that aren't specifically about getting started in RC Flying. A lot of times we will get people posting here that are experienced flyers, but are Beginner's on a RC Discussion forum. For many the forums can be a bit overwhelming at first, and their not sure where to post first. They see a forum labeled "Beginner's" and they think "Ah Ha, there's where I can post". Because of this reason we will usually give most posts a little bit of leeway about what they are asking.
Making people feel welcomed on RCU is just as important as making them feel welcomed in hte hobby!!! ;) Ken |
RE: video help
Ken, thanks for lightening me up a little; I had a nasty week.
Allow me to start over. Welcome daltonjosh52! Are you new to R/C flight? We would more easily be able to help you if you provided a little more detail about what you're trying to search for. Respectfully, Nathan |
