NO instructors available at the club the weekend. My batteries all cycled good, so I'm ready to fly!!!! I'm tempted to try on my own, but will be patient and wait for an instructor, hard as it is. I guess I could just go and buy a plug and play electric tomorrow and take off in the backyard. Hmmmm!!! now there's an idea! HA!

Get yourself a simulator and "How to Solo in one week" from the 1st R/C school. I did and fly glow with no trouble. PS: it must be nice to be able to fly in January. Too much snow and WAY too cold in North NJ. Cheers!:D

Cold here in Chicagoland. 28 degrees F. I'd take you out flying if it was warm enough. 47 is about where I draw the line.

I will wait for an instructor. I've got the RC bug bad though. Guy at the hobby store today was flying an electric helo in the store, it was just incredible. So, while waiting on the instructors, I've been flying on the G4 sim at the store. At least I'm getting used to the sticks and I'm learning alot just from speaking to the staff and customers. All that coupled with all the great advice here, I should at the very least be a little less anxious when the time to fly comes. Sunday here in south eastern PA is supposed to be cold, but 8 MPH winds. Tomorrow will be way too windy, above 20 MPH. The electrics do look pretty cool and easy to start, might still get one to have at the house. I have over an acre of property, with lots of room and no nieghbors around. One nieghbor up the street has a sweet 500ft level paved driveway, and I'm thinking Super runway! HA!HA! All I have to do is give him the same RC bug I've got!

Hi Billd76, you mean pa you have bare ground ? Here in Ohio, anyway N.W. ohio, we have about 10 in. of snow. I'd love to fly but no bare land.

Yeah we also have about 8" here in Carol Stream. If it wasn't so darn cold, (4 degrees F right now) I think I could deal with the snow. I was out yesterday running in a new Magnum 46, I was OK in the early stages. Later as everything in the flight box got colder, I noticed a degradation of usefulness. It was 27 yesterday. I think today I'll stay indoors and fly the Blade MCX and push the assembly along on my second Avistar.

I joined the Local RC club today. So I'm ready!! Just need some decent weather. There will be folks flying at the field tomorrow, but no instructors will be there. Might just go up, watch and learn what I can.

You will learn a lot just watching.

Be sure and pay close attention to what field paraphernalia they have and their preparation for flying technique

In our club. We have no instructors. I'd go out to the field and see if anyone was there. If someone was there; I'd asked if they would help me. If it was the training cord or just pass the tx. I finally soled( cause the training cord would fit in the other tx ;)) I still dont like flying by myself when no one is around. I'm afraid of me getting bit by the prop and no one can help:() Just don't give up; I know you want to fly; trust me. You could loose you plane if you choose to fly. Here is an idea just take you plane and with the wings off taxi around the yard; maybe try to give it full throttle and see if you can keep it striaght. Thats what I do; either if I'm bored or doing an engine test. Good Luck

just dont practice taxiing with the wings on, and stick a blob of paper towels in the plane with a ruber band around the fuse to keep the oil out. One of really nice new guys got caried away "taxiing" we never saw the plane again and we looked for hours! Best guess was when he gave up flying it cause he couldn't see it it just free flighted off into the wild blue.

The taxiing helps your coordination or your hands and helps you with the turning the correct direction that you want to when the plane is headed towards you

Good Idea.. I've noticed on the SIM that taxiing can be difficult. I'm going up to the field today anyway. will see hoe it goes.

What you need is an Air Hog areo ace,,tiny bipe ~$30 from walmart(over in electrics micro flyers there are thousands of posts on these)....great front yard fun,,or a gws pico stick for the neighbors driveway,, go and watch at the field, introduce yourself,,probably someone there with a buddy box,,you'll find the in this hobby people like to help others learn....just like on here...I was born in Mass, and been to West Jefferson once , canoe trip down the New River....back in the 70's...it had flooded a week or 2 before pretty badly,, we would come around a curve every now and then to smell a dead animal...a cow or pig 20 feet up stuck in a tree..I will never forget that...nasty...other than that it was a good time....lets all hope for warmer weather and a better economy....Rog
