Moving to gas
I'm moving on from my slo stick and into gas. I was going to get the midwest aero-star but see now that they have a aerobat. Same body, just a symmetrical wing and beefier gear. What do you think...too much for a newbie?

Moving to gas
No big deal, but I think you mean glo fuel (a mixture of oil, methanol, and nitromethane). Gas is exactly that gas, and those engine typically power a plane in the 10+ lbs range.
The midwest aerostar most likely is around 4.5-5.5 lbs and will reuire a .40 size 2-stroke glo engine... |

It is a bit heavy on the wing loading and lands a lot faster than you will be use to. If you are able to fly your stick well, you will be able to adjust to the faster, aerobat. I have one and I love it. It is a very agile little bugger!!! |
Trainer
I transitioned from a Merlin to an LT-40.
Other than the basics of orientation, the slow flyer DID NOT really prepare me for flying a glow trainer. Go to a club on training night and see if you can get an orientation flight, before you buy something that you can't handle. |

Moving to gas
Don't worry about the differences in the planes. Just get it and enjoy.
