Problem with a PZ Corsair
So I bought a PZ Corsair with the DX5e radio. I managed to fly it for about 20 seconds before taking it dirt diving [:@] I busted the motor mount, but that's a $3.35 part so I bought 5 of them just because I don't see this being the last time happends ;). Anyways, I reinstalled the mount, screwed back in the motor (made sure the battery was charged - the charger has a blinking green light<?>) and now I have total control over the ailerons, elevator, rudder, but I CAN'T get the prop to spin!!!!! [:@] !!!! What am I possibly doing wrong??? It seems like a simple fix, but it's driving me NUTS! Has anyone had this situation before? Should I be plugging the throttle connector into another slot on the receiver? I'm plugging it into the slot marked "thro". Am I missing any connections? This is REALLY frustrating..... [>:]
Has anyone got any tips? Also, does anyone have and tips/tricks on flying these birds? My 1st flight had to be hand-launched because the ground was very, very rough and when I tried to "toss it", I fumbled the remote and WHEE!!!! it was off to the races with the end result being a WICKED lawn dart! God I love these foam planes :D They're a breeze to fix! Any tips, tricks, tips, or "try this" will be more than welcome. As long as i keep it in the air for more than 30 seconds, I figure it's "progress" [8D] I'm trying to do all of my crashes on this plane so I don't have smash the crap out of my GP Big Stik 40. Hey It's cheaper and easier to to bang styrefoam on the ground than monokote. Does anyone have any writeups on techniques for keeping these guys in the air? Any tips are welcome!!!! Please take pity on this stupid, stupid pilot with more heart to fly than skills to do it well :eek: |

Never take it off half way through and try to fly Also be sure that you have the dial set for the right charging current. For the stock 1800mAh battery, set the dial to 1.75A or slightly past but no more than that. When the battery starts getting low in flight you'll here the motor surging. It is sort of an on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off sound. Ease back on the throttle and you should have power to come around and land. As for keeping it in the air, not much too it. The plane flys great. I've never hand launched mine but the only difficulty I could see there is maybe tossing it at too much of an upward angle and stalling the wing. It should have plenty of power for hand launching. |

There are a couple things you should check out and fix on this plane, the first is the extra long motor mount screw that can poke a hole in your battery. Here is the link to the problem. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=PKZ4600
I hand launch mine all the time, just hold it behind the wings with your left hand and go full throttle on the tx. Get your right hand on the tx and ready on the right stick and throw it fairly level. The plane has more than enough power to pull itself if you give it a little up elevator, not much though or you'll stall it. |

Something's definitely acting wonky with the charger but danged if I know what it is..... wehn I plug the battery up, the green light starts flashing, BUT no matter what I try, the "Start/Stop" button just won't function or do anything much less kick it into "full" charge. it's like the start/stop button that's supposed to kick off the cycle start doesn't do anything at all ! And I'm plub wires (on the motor) that connects the motor to the ESC was partially "skinned" (as in "no covering on part of the wire. I made sure to tape it up tight with electrical tape before I reconnected the battery, but I'm still not really sure how this happened. To be honest, i couldn't say with 100% certainty that it didn't come that way. It was hidden under the motor mount and i didn't run it after I crashed not until I replaced the motor mount. I don't think the crash damaged it just because it was SOOO tucked back in that ESC/battery cavity. Just out of curiousity, how much does a PZ Corsair motor cost? Or would it be more cost efective to use a less powerful T28? I'm really not that big on power at this point, so a little less juice MIGHT keep it out of the dirt :) would I have to replace the ESC too? Just out of curiousity, anyone got a used one for sale? (had to ask......)
It's also odd that I get full action and range of movement on the ailerons, rudder, and elevator, but NO prop spin.....It's REALLY frustrating..... i've scoured the internet for SOME tips on what the heck may be going on, but I've found NOTHING. I'm even beginning to think the unthinkable: that the motor was somehow damaged in the gold medal winning dirt diving olympics and that would be a pretty much "unfixable" problem thanks to a recent microphallic employer who found out that I am twice the man he is and decided that the affront to his "dinkywinky" was a mortal offense.... and now I'm back to the land of unemployement. i know this sound like a joke, but the dude really had the equipment of a very cold squirrel... i've been fired for alot of reasons (mostly for mouthing off at the wrong executive because he was, well, WRONG. Duh. But this being canned because my boss redefined "ungifted"..... I'm sorry I'm on a little rant here, this just happened yesterday. I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have inadvertantly offended. but I hope I gave a few poeple a good chuckle at my expense. It's a coping mechanism.. |
