now the cowl!

i got everything fixed and fit perfectly (i thought) on my sundowner 50 but after installing the cowl i found it to be too close to the spinner ive got the engine set right to the mark the manuel says, how would you fix this?

I had that same problem with CG Edge. I used a piece of lite ply between the firewall and engine mount. I suppose you could use washers too

Plug the holes in the fuselage/cowl mount blocks with toothpicks & CA. Make a shim of two thicknesses of cereal box cardboard or put two popsicle sticks behind the spinner (one on either side of the prop shaft) and re-drill 1/16" holes in the firewall blocks for the cowl attachments.

I don't specifically know how the Sundowner cowl is attached, but you get the drill.

I would NOT change the engine to suit the cowl. Ever.

Can you just push the cowl on a little further?

What are you calling too close since you didn't say the spinner rubbed the cowl ? Is the spinner flat back or recessed ?
I try to have the spinner gap between 1/16 to 3/32"

Yes it rubs the cowl its a flat back tru turn spinner.........is there anything i can shim the shaft with or will it be way out of balance and dangerous if i do? i still have a little room on the mounts but i checked again and the measurements are right on where the directions say ...man i hate to take it all apart and redrill those mount holes holes!!!

No, not really, like able said, you just shim behind the motor mount. I use ply cut just over size to the mount, very easy.
