Reciever battery question

I need to buy a couple of reciever batteries to replace the ones that came with my flight packs a few years ago. I currently have the 4 cell nicads from futaba.. Suould I buy more of these or is there a better battery I can buy for around the same price?

These are my favorites for a standard-size cell

And they have the soldering tabs on them, which is a big plus

RE: Reciever battery question

If you have to replace your batteries....you might as well get better......most not all servos can run on 6 volts...this will make your servos faster and have more torque...If you don't want to go 6 volt that's fine get a battery with more capacity...battery capacity is measured in mAh which stands for milli Amp hour...a 600 mAh battery in a perfect word will put out 600 mA for 1 hour...so get a 1100 mAH battery to replace standard batteries and you have almost twice the capacity...
the other issue is a battery charger if you go 6 volt...the standard wall wart just won't get it done...you'll need a charger.....perferably one that you can charge nicads or nimh batteries

RE: Reciever battery question

Check on Ebay. I picked up four 2500mah Ni-Mh batteries, for $40 including shipping. I've been flying a couple for over two months now and the only donwn side is that I'm getting lazy charging my batteries. I also put a couple of their TX batteries in. I can usualy fly for thee or four days with a week gap inbetween fly days without a charge. The TX batteries are 2500 mah also.

The sellers name I bought from is battery Junction. There are others selling the same brand packs. THe RX ones I got are Dahann, black covering with an brown/ornge lable.

Hey Minn, you got any of those nifty drawings to show how you would wire those up?

W8YE, I just picked up two of the same packs. After properly form-charging them, I cycled them to check capacity. They both showed 1731 mah each. Pretty godd for 18.00 a pack.

I just ordered a new pack from NoBS. http://www.hangtimes.com/nobsbatteries.html The website is great for learning a bit about receiver packs (what to look for, what to avoid). I had a question for them about my purchase, which I sent off at 6:47pm tonight. I had an informative reply from the owner at 7:09pm, which answered my questions and recommended a battery for my purpose.

NoBS has had a really good reputation, and I can see why. I'm anxious to get the pack, and even more anxious to put it to work!

The NiCDs are more forgiving when over charged.
