Hi just want some input. Just finished the inside of my plane. Also I finished the installation of the G20 Please take a look. If you see something that will not work just drop a post.

It is difficult to tell everything just from photos but I can definitely say you've done a much nicer, cleaner job than many planes I see.

I dont see anything holding your fuel tank from sliding backwards(unless I just cant see it). Vibration can cause even the tightest tank to move,so dont take any chances.
Also,it doesnt look like the the wooden blocks that your cowl screws too are reinforced. I always make sure to goo a large amount of epoxy on 3 sides of them or even epoxy some 1/4 round wood on the 3 sides. I think every plane I ever had that I didnt do this on lasted about 2 flights before those blocks broke loose. Other than that....its looks great! |

I agree. You should have something anchoring the back of the tank to keep it forward - Velcro strap, 2 #64 rubberbands, balsa block or strip. Something.
Also, with a gasser (spark ignition) it is S.O.P. to NOT use a metal throttle rod. The spark can cause an inductive interference that migrates to the receiver via the throttle servo & servo wire. You're probably OK, as the servo arm is Nylon, but it is something to keep in mind. NO servo should be within 10" of the spark plug or ignition module. I epoxy my cowl blocks in place and once that has dried I drill 1/8" holes through them and right on through the firewall and then epoxy lengths of bamboo shis-ka-bob skewers (locally called "Spedie Skewers") in the holes as a mechanical anchor to supplement the epoxy. |

It appears well done only thing I decided was not necassary was wrapping my 2.4 RX's in foam. doubt that that will hurt anything but they are so small and light I just hold them in place with double sided foam tape.

Here is a photo of the throttle rod i'm using (Flexible Accu-Glide 914mm Nylon pushrod). I will support the tank tonight. Sorry DSL had a problem droped off line. thanks

This loooks like a larger sized plane so you are most likely not a novice. I ask that because I don't know if you used metal to metal linkage on the throttle, nor what the throttle connection is at the engine. It does not show on your first set of pictures. But, that rod you showed in your last picture looks like metal. That's ok on the servo end because the servo arm is not metal, but I don't see what's on the other end, on the throttle arm itself. If you are using metal, Zbend for instance, you might want to reconsider using something like the Dubro Safety Link clevis or a ball-link arrangement that is non-metalic. You may have already done this, but by the picture, we can't tell. The metal to metal junction at the engine can cause inteference from vibration.

It looks real good. I agree with everyone about the Lock Clevis and that statement we can't see what you have from keeping your fuel tank from sliding backwards.

Thanks for the comments every body made on what I need to do to finish my plane. I will tell you what the plane weigh is when I'm finished with my wings, also I will take more photos after the plane is balanced and to show how I shifted or added weights. Here are photo's of what changes I made from all posts. look over and see what I need to still fix. Run out of rubber bands, don't won,t the gas tank to slide forward ether I think it could caused my gas line to get pinched. Thanks for the help.:D Greg |
