Cloud Dancer 60 from plans...

Just finshed building a Cloud Dancer 60 from RCM plans and finally had a chance to fly it on Saturday. Its a great flyer, very smooth and has a wide speed range. Takes off easy, does aerobatics with ease. Wind doesn't bother it and it lands at a crawl. It wasn't hard to build and the big wing looks terrific in the air! Well worth the building effort. This would make a great second plane, first low wing/taildragger plane. :D

Building from plans

Sounds great and you are enjoying another aspect of the hobby by building. I just received a set of plans for one of my all time favorite classic pattern planes and will build it over the winter. It's Jim Whitley's "Daddy Rabbit" from the late 60's. Post a picture if have a chance.

Indeed the Cloud Dancer's, Sea Dancers are wonderfull airplanes and I thought you might enjoy this little insight into Fred Reese the designer with many successful kitted designs with various companys and published plans over the years.

I enjoy two of his designs a little House of Balsa 109 and a forty size scale Stinson Jr. from published plans.

A couple of years ago I attended an organized night fly put on by the Las Vegas RC club at a dry lake near Las Vegas with some of my night flyers and a Ukie stunt ship to fly while waiting for dark. Fred was in attendance with of course several of his new designs and I had the good fortune to meet him. At the time he was suffering from cancer and since he was an old Ukie man we struck up an instant friendship And I had the pleasure of talking him into doing a handoff with the handel so he could enjoy a flight after many years. He finished out that flight beautifully. A very short time after this event he passed away and I felt very honored to have been able help him to relive a little of his first modeling love at that time.
