what up with AMA?
What’s up with AMA? I found three in my area I e-mailed all three in regards to joining waited 3 week’s never received a reply. The one I really want to join is http://www.maaw.com/ E-mailed them twice over a month ago and no reply I know the place is still there because I took a ride there last week.

RE: what up with AMA?
Actually that's not a fault with the AMA, it's all up to the club.
A quick check of their site shows they list their newsletters. I chose the first one in the list and on the first page is a phone number to submit info for the newsletter. I'd start there Also their membership forms tell you exactly what you need to do |
RE: what up with AMA?
You will find a link on the main page to the membership forms, it says you need to fill it out and bring it to the club meeting or make arrangements with the membership director. You have to have your AMA card when you go to the meeting, and pay your dues at that time. $100
http://www.maaw.com/Membership/files...ershipform.pdf The e-mail for the membership director is on the contact us link. |
RE: what up with AMA?
Why not try calling people instead of e-mailing? Many clubs are run by folks who may not check their mail often, and who knows if your message ended up in someone's junk mail?

RE: what up with AMA?
The very BEST way is to show up at a meeting.
The next MAAW Meeting is Tuesday, March 17th - starting at 7PM - at the church. Club meetings cover a wide range of aviation topics, demonstrations, and guest speakers and are held monthly, generally on the third Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m. at the United Valhalla Methodist Church which is located at 200 Columbus Avenue Valhalla. MAAW membership is open to all residents of Westchester County. Proof of residency and a current AMA membership are required prior to joining and at the time of each membership renewal. Westchester County charges MAAW members a fee to use the park. There is a gate at the bottom of the hill and a gate from the parking lot to the field. 52.GASOLINE FUELED ENGINES ARE NOT PERMITTED AT THE MAAW FIELD. |

If they have filters or blockers, something in the email may have redirected it to trash, etc.

RE: what up with AMA?
A lot of the club contact info on the AMA web site is out of date. Not AMA's fault, it is up to the clubs to notify the AMA Webmaster to have it updated.
As already mentioned, email is not the best way to make contact. At 48, I am considered fairly young among our club members. Some of our members are retirees who spend a lot of time flying. They check email a few times a year, if they think about it. But dial their number and they will either answer or call you back (when they are finished flying). |
