fuel proof

When using epoxy to fuel proof a firewall how do you keep it from getting into the firewall nuts?

RE: fuel proof

take the motor mount bolts dip them in vasaline screw them in part way, so they prevent the epoxy from getting on the threads, and fuel proof the firewall, when the epoxy is hard they will unscrew easy.
also try to be neat about spreading the epoxy, no need to get exessive epoxy on the bolt area and the threads.

You can cut a pipe cleaner (or a similar product available in any craft section at your favorite discount store) into 2 inch pieces and just stick them into the threaded holes. Remove them before the epoxy sets up. Paper towel pieces are not good because they unravel.

I use the screw and vasaline method myself. I have never had one not screw out after the epoxy dried. Good Luck, Dave

Vasaline. Another method is to drip candle wax into it. Then you can just push the wax out with your screw.

Don't forget to coat the entire tank area too
