What are you flying this year?

1 Attachment(s)
A new flying season is here, and I would love to see what you are going to fly this year. I will start with my hangar.
Photo 1) Front: Yellow and white Micro Telemaster without motor. Back right: scratch built and modified Micro Telemaster. Back left: an old House Of Balsa Chea-Pass someone gave me.
Photos 2 & 3) PT-40 with ASP.46
Photos 4 & 5) Kadet Mark II converted to electric with Axi Goldline 2826/12 motor and Jeti 40amp ESC

I am determined to finally join the AMA and local flying club and learning to fly.

RE: What are you flying this year?

I will be flying:

Sig 4 Star .60 (with an OS .91 FS in the front) - main flyer
GP .40 Corsair (OS .46 FP) - not flown to date
GP .40 Cub (Magnum .46) - not flown to date
Hobbico Twinstar (OS .40 LAs) - flown one season by previous owner

I may be flying:
GP PT 40 (OS .46 FX) - my primary trainer that I am thinking I will retire, or let my 9 year old son fly.
Dynaflite 1/4 Scale Chipmunk (Ryobi 31 cc gas conversion) - I think I am almost ready to fly this plane I spend almost 18 months building
Scratch built Grumman Cougar (Twin Royal .25s) - I do not think I will get this one in the air this season, maybe next year if I get very comfortable on the Twinstar!
Topflite Gold Edition DC-3 (OS .40 LAs - from the Twin Star) - on the building table right now, have the fuse almost done, will start work on the wing shortly. Given enough time to build and learn twin flying on the Twinstar, the DC-3 MIGHT see some air time toward the end of the season.

Geeze, I've got airplanes from LAST year that I still haven't flown! :D

RE: What are you flying this year?

I've got three planes.

#1 plane is the Venus II. This season I will concentrate on properly trimming my plane, probably learning how to implement a mix or two, and working on my precision. Goal is to advance to the intermediate pattern class by the end of the year, if not by the time Nationals rolls around.

#2 plane is my 69" Yak. First try with a (YS) four stroke, and a plane as aerobatic as a Yak. I'm expecting a big difference from the Venus planes and will be taking my time with this one.

#3 plane is the Venus 40. This season will see an upgraded engine to the 55AX and thus a higher pitched prop. Hopefully will be moving tank to CG and possibly an upgrade to a regulated lipo electrical system. This plane is going to be dedicated to learning new maneuvers, serving as a backup plane at pattern contests, and for those days when I want a plane that is not such a PITA to get out of the house and into my Civic[&:]

I now have an extra 46AX a few servos. No specific plans for another plane this season, but if I can find the room, maybe something scale (like a Knockabout Cherokee?)

And in my case BOXES of unbuilt ARF's that are still unassembled.

It will take a few years just to get caught up on the builds.

Haha, thanks for noticing. Yes, landings have to be pretty perfect. Even the most experienced and talented seem to lose planes on the far side of the runway.

Have you seen that AMA T-shirt with the corn?? :D

RE: What are you flying this year?

Mike won't crash my US60... I have all the faith in his flying skills.....

'course, somebody else at his field might mid-air..
My building skills could fail and the plane fall apart...
Mike could do something really stupid like handing me the transmitter....

RE: What are you flying this year?

At our field we rarely NEED to have more than one plane up at a time :D

RE: What are you flying this year?

This year I'm flying a 30% Extra with a G-62, a 68 inch CG Extra with a YS 1.20, a Mid West Hots with a YS 1.10 a 60 size Bridi Kaos with an OS .91 and I have a Daddy Rabbit about half done on my bench with a SK .91. I have a few other planes waiting for repairs and/or new gear but I'm not holding my breath for them to be back in the air any time soon.
