good 1st plane
 

Ok, looking for a first good plane to learn on. I have R/C cars, trucks, boats and just started flying helo's. ( I am at the point I can hover) But my heart is leaning to fly planes. I don't want to break the bank on this. Looking to drop about $300.00 bucks. I know I should join a club but not just yet. I am looking for something I can take out to a field and fly around after work and weekends when I am done with my honey dews. Hell I need something to do the Grand Kids live out of state

It's the Super Cub by HobbyZone. It's very forgiving and it's great to fly. It'll do loops and hammer heads, though resist the urge to do rolls...it won't happen. I've even got mine to stay inverted for about 5 seconds. Great fun.

I've put together a list of planes that make good trainers and second planes. All of them on the list are proven planes that are well suited for successfully letting students learn to fly, or advance to a second plane. Check out the list here

Ken's list contains glow engine planes only. Electrics can also be a good way to start. If you are not going to join a club or get some help before you start, then you definitely need to go with the hobbyzone Super Cub. I fly more advanced planes including nitro powered. But I still keep the Super Cub in my trunk because I can pull it out at a moments notice and fly it on my lunch break or any other time I have 20 minutes to kill and a good place to fly it!

To all who replyed to my post I want to thank you. I lot of good info on planes. I want to do a little more research and wait for this nutty northen Illinois weather to break before I buy. But when I do I will sure let you all know. Once again thanks for the info.
