Spectrum ar6100
after loosing faith in my fm radio (1 failed range check and 1 channel conflict) I purchased a DX5e Tx from a friend, i then got a ar6100 Rx for my parkzone trojan, is this a good setup? the Rx is so tiny and even tho it passed the range check i am range paranoid LOL. What will the range be?

RE: Spectrum ar6100
It will be just fine. Just remember that it IS a parkflyer receiver and will not have the same range as a full-range receiver such as the AR500. Do a proper range check then fly it within normal parkflyer distances.

RE: Spectrum ar6100
Most of the manufacturers do not give any real range numbers. I'm sure it is a product liability issue since lots of things can impact the range and giving a number could be a risk.
Some of the Futaba receivers have this in the tech notes: "Perfect for Park or Slow Flyers. Range of approximately 650 feet (200m)" If you keep the AR6100 at least that close you are probably fairly safe. With a model airplane you can be beyond 650 feet very quickly. |
RE: Spectrum ar6100
It will work perfect. I have the AR6100e in both a Trojan and Corsair. All of the 2.4GHz receivers are pretty small and light but don't let that fool you.

RE: Spectrum ar6100
I would do a 650 ft range check to know if you still have control, and mainly to know what that distance looks like. This way you'll have an idea of how far out you are.

RE: Spectrum ar6100
I have two AR6100 RX, I've done range checks and could still control the plane farther then I could even see it. I had my wife stay with the plane and got in my truck and drove away. I was over 1/2 mile away and had no issues. needless to say I trust them;)

RE: Spectrum ar6100
Yep, the AR6100 has a lot greater range than just 650 feet. I've flown them way out beyond that with zero issues. Heck, 650 feet is pretty much just the length of our runway.

RE: Spectrum ar6100
Thanks everyone. I just did a range check as per the Dx5 booklet, It said 30 paces and i went double that with no problem. Now if this wind would just die down!

RE: Spectrum ar6100
Last week my PZ Corsair went down. It was about 700 feet away and was out of range. I've since swapped receivers between it and my Trex 450. The Corsair has the AR7000 and the heli has the AR6100 and both are happy.
