I second weatherbug you can choose a wind station close to you and it is a realtime readout. www.mesonet.org is valuable to me here at home you may look for a mesonet site in PA

Back when I did a lot of bay fishing....we had a "rule" to more accurately predict local winds on the water. If they said...10- to 15 mph...we just added them together...Often 25 mph was the real correct answer. I think that is true for flying, too Ha Ha Rich

http://www.wunderground.com/ is what i use just go in and put in your city and state and there are usually 2 or 3 locations per city that they get there readings. it has been pretty good so far.

I was using one weather station that was from the Las Vegas airport and it was way off, not only for me here at home but for the fields I fly at. I just installed weatherbug last week and gave it the Boulder address and it's about dead on. It is located at the school in Boulder. It's also a kick to watch the wind speed and direction change. Today the wind is only 1 mph but it's raining on and off. Bad sky and a dry lake bed is not a good place to be when it's raining!!;)

I use the Weather Underground wind detail site. But often it seems you need to add the speed range figures together for out at the flying field.

The wind really seems to pick up in the wide open space of the flying field

When I had a 23' sailboat on Lake Erie, it seemed like you needed to subtract the wind speed range figures for there was never any wind or there was blowing waves over the power lines at the shore
