What to put on before paint.
I have a Herr Piper J-3 Cub that is almost ready to cover. Since I have converted it to electric I do not need it to be fuel-proof.
I want to paint the struts, window frame and possibly the landing gear fairings instead of covering. What should I put on before the painting to prevent the possibility of the paint soaking into the balsa and looking sloppy? |
RE: What to put on before paint.
sanding sealer is what I use to take the grain look out of the wood parts, apply the sealer then lightly sand and repeat until it's smooth then some light primer.

Thank you for your quick responses. Carr Hardware carry the Sanding Sealer?
A thin coat, light sanding, another light coat, another light sand, then light coat of white primer, more light sanding, before painting it the traditional yellow color? What paint do you think will match with Ultracote Cub Yellow covering? |
