Problem with servo reverse on DX-7

I have been trying to reverse the elevator servo on a new install. It is on the elevator. It is backwards at present. When I go to servo reverse menue and change the channel two, it does nothing. It still operates the servo in the same direction. Using the AR7000 RX and the servo in question is a Airtronics (new). Any suggestions as to what I might look at. Thanks[&o][&o][&o]

Gene,
Turn the plane upside down!!!! ;)

Honestly, it sounds like something is wrong in your radio. Do you you have another receiver that you can check to see if the servo reversing works properly on???

YUP!!! wouldn't it be easier just to turn the servo upside down:D:D Could it also be some kind of mix that is programmed in. This is a RX and Tx that has never been used. Will keep trying. Maybe I will put it on a different channel in the rx to see if the reverse will work.

Being completely unfamiliar with Spectrum programing could there perhaps be a 'save the changes step' you are omitting?

Are the channels on the DX-7 the same as on Futaba i.e., channel 1 ailerons, 2 elevator, 3 throttle, 4 rudder and etc.

Reversing is covered on pg 21 of the manual. Looks simple enough. Is it indicating "reversed" on the LCD screen? Will it flip back and forth if you tell it to? Try rebinding after the change (wild guess).

Most likely no, they are probably the same as JR port assignments:

1. throttle

2. aileron

3. Elevator

4. Rudder

Manual says 3 is the elevator. a label should show in the LCD when you select the channel to be switched. also be sure you are in airplane mode.

Yeah, channel 3 is the elevator channel. I just checked on my DX7. Also, there should be some text on the screen that says AIL on channel 2 and ELEV on channel 3 which is a good way to make sure you reverse the right channel.

In the reverse menu it will actually label each channel with a channel number as well as the name. i.e.: ele, rud, ail, etc.

Elevator is channel 3.

The receiver is also labeled that way as well.

When you are in the reverse menu, use the select button to highlight the function you want to reverse then use the increase/decrease switch to reverse it. You should see the little pictorial representation switch. Then just press scroll-down/select simultaneously and the setting should stay. If it doesn't then something is definitely wrong.

Or you could just use Ken's suggestion and fly the plane inverted all the time.:D

Hummmm!!! I guess you can't train a old Futaba dog new tricks. I set it up like my Futaba. I don't have the plane here, it is now at a friends house to have him look at it. So I will call himhe is a JR man.

What can I say. You finally get a good radio and are lost!!!! Strange too since JR labels their stuff. Guess Futaba uses different names???

RE: Problem with servo reverse on DX-7

AHHHHHHH!!!! ya got me. Actually Futaba uses channel 1 ailerons, ch 2 elevator, ch 3 throttle, ch 4 rudder. Not so with brand X. I did not look at labels as I knew what went in channels 1,2 3 and 4. However, I was wrong.

No names, just channel numbers usually. They don't ASSUME what YOU will want to use each channel to do.

You are so right That's exactly why I gave up Futaba about 20 years ago. Anyhow the important thing is enjoy and learn. I've been doing that for longer than I care to admit but never stop learning, it's a great hobby.

RE: Problem with servo reverse on DX-7

For 50 years I have only had Futaba. So as I get younger, I get brave and try new things. Problems is: I take some of the old things with me. i.e., Not looking at the RX to see that they are labeled, just assume that it is set up like my trusty Futaba.;);)

Goirish: I didn't mean to offend you in any way. Since we may be close in age 83 as you said old habits are hard to break. Look at instructions after we screw it up Ha.These PC's really foul me up. Glad to have them though keeps me busy when not flying or repairing. As well as getting to know new modelers all the time. Been doing RC since escapements but hopefully someday will get one to fly (ha). I now have 23 models some of which are 25 years old and have filled many garbage cans with my wrecks over time. Some of us never learn. Glad I haven't though; great hobby, great friends, great way to stay broke, Ha. Oddly only have had 1 foamy just don't get into them. Guess have to be somewhat creative? Hope you enjoy your DX7. Love mine and have not had a problem with it in 2 years. Great feature, model match; keeps me out of trouble.

Never gave it a thought that you offended me. I am not quite as old as you, but I think I am catching you. Funny thing is, I have had this DX-7 for well over a year and have never used it. Was afraid that I was not a good enough flyer and didn't want to wreck a 100.00 rx. I am putting this in my clipped wing 1/4 Cub with a 26cc gas engine. I did use the DX-7 the other day with a Vaporindoor fly n bind. Love this sport and I am getting my grandson's involved. I also have contacted a boy scout group and they will be coming to our field to fly on the buddy box. have a great day TedMo[8D][8D][8D]
